The Russians appear to be fleeing Northern Kherson.

Last edited Tue Oct 4, 2022, 09:18 AM - Edit history (1)

Ukrain has been trying to take Davidyv Brid since the beginning of the Kherson offensive. They liberated it today. Russian sources say Russia is abandoning north Kherson. Where they will retreat to isn't obvious.

This map illustrates the Russian problem. They were in danger of encirclement. We should be seeing proof of many villages being liberated today. Where the Russians will try to establish a defensive line is not obvious. I doubt if there are many ffixed trenches to the south.

This makes some sense to me: Tap to see the full map.

The Russians probably have defensive positions around the city of kherson but if they retreat that far they may as well just get out of Dodge.

How about the city of New York?

In war there are a lot of tragic deaths on both sides which also includes the innocent. I really wish Putin would come to the conclusion and focus on repairing the "Fatherland" and leave Ukraine.

I just think it's unlikely they have fixed positions to fall back on .

6. Ukraine hammers Russian forces into retreat on east and south fronts

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/10/04/russia-retreat-kherson-lyman-ukraine/

Ukrainian troops on Tuesday accelerated their military advances on two fronts, pushing Russian forces into retreat in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions to the east and Kherson region to the south as Kyiv continued to recapture occupied territory on the same day that President Vladimir Putin and his rubber-stamp parliament sought to formalize their increasingly far-fetched annexation claims.

“The Ukrainian armed forces commanders in the south and east are throwing problems at the Russian chain of command faster than the Russians can effectively respond,” said a Western official who requested anonymity to brief reporters about sensitive security information. “And this is compounding the existing dysfunction within the Russian invasion force.”

Long way to go, but maybe they can get to Crimea. Take Crimea, and eliminate the Russian fleet's resupply harbors. Let them all flee over the bridge.

I once thought that Ukraine would be gone in 2 or 3 days. Then, the Farmers came out. And then, the Babushkas. And then, the Cats. It has been a lesson for me.

He has no formal military training but is in total charge of this. His previous efforts to rebuild the RU military has been shown to be a total waste of money and effort.

Most of my military training was in law and not strategy. But from the command and staff classes I suffered through, it seems to me that Russian ought to consolidate its forces in Crimea and abandon the recently "annexed" territories.

I am not convinced Russia can hold Crimea but it is surely bleeding its combat force attempting to hold other territory.

18. Putin will go down as one of the worst Russian leaders ever, if not the worst

He's basically ruined the economy and future of his country in a futile/pointless war. All he had to do was stay out of trouble and sell energy and shitty weapons to the world and Russia had it made. Now they've lost tons of their young men, tons more have fled, their economy is in shambles, and at best they might keep Crimea. What an absolute military disaster, Putin's head should be on a pike in front of the Kremlin over what he's done to Russia.
