Something about the physical layout is very similar to another event like this where his audio was picked up and it was hurtful to him

When President Joe Biden met Ray Murphy, the mayor of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, the two quickly discovered they had a lot in common. Maybe too much in common.
They got chummy very quickly, so much so that the president may have forgotten that television cameras and microphones were close enough to hear him tell the mayor: Nobody f---s with a Biden.
Biden made the remark as he was chatting with Murphy during his second storm-related trip this week, this time to survey Hurricane Ian's damage to the Fort Myers region, where Murphy has been mayor since 2020.
The president met with Murphy and other local officials and residents and delivered remarks at a joint news conference with the states Republican governor, Ron DeSantis.
It was not directed at anybody. It was just two guys talking, Murphy said in a phone interview shortly after Biden's remark went viral. It didnt faze me one bit. Thats just the way two guys talk to each other from our respective backgrounds.

(9,956 posts)... sometimes I wonder if these "hot mic" moments are always accidental. This sounds like an appeal to Florida's DeSantis voters... I don't like - or approve of - the incident, in any case, but I'm not completely convinced it was unplanned.

(47,097 posts)It probably was not planned, it is just Joe talking like he talks.
I grew up in an Irish Catholic household like Biden did, and we could never understand
why other people were so adamant in their dislike of cussing.
Mike Nelson
(9,956 posts)... it would have to be both. If it was planned, I don't think it's a good political move. Of course, people use vulgar language all the time, in private... and that's acceptable.
... one thing I discuss with Trump supporters is his making "Vulgar" acceptable... behavior, language... He uses the common cuss words in rallies. People cheer. The FOX TV show Gutfeld or Gutfield is doing it a lot, now... It has to do with public behavior. Republicans celebrating their vulgarity... expletives are not political, I know. Maybe it's just that I see it as more of a Trump-Republican thing.
... I feel better if it was unplanned.

The GOP and MAGAs are psychopaths who would kill us in our beds if it suited them.
The GOP is not a political party, it is a crime syndicate which lies, cheats, steals their way into power.
And literally have sold out their country to Putin and the fascists.
I simply do not see how harmless cussing by moral people equates in any way to what the GOP does.
But growing up in an Irish Catholic military household we understood protestant civilians were uptight and sensitive
to cussing, so we tried to make an effort around them.
