so what are you doing or planning to do about all the inflated prices we are seeing?

So far, I've just cut back and am getting by, but it's getting more noticeable all the time. I plan on increasing my 401k monthly disbursement, at least I have that option. Many don't. I see posted elsewhere that we should be getting an 8.6% SS increase. That will certainly help. though I don't believe the pundits who claim inflation is cooling off.

1. fill my gas tank tomorrow and then cut trips to the bare minimum
2. buy only items on sale. Shop the store circulars and online ads
3. shift whatever expenses I legally can to my expense report
4. try to get my cat to eat fish I make for him but that probably won't work
5. do my own fall cleanup instead of hiring workers
6. vacuum out my car with the shop vac and wash it myself instead of taking it to the car wash
7. temporarily cut out restaurants and take-out food orders

I've also been trying to buy grocery items on sale or to take advantage of buy-one-get-one-free items. I don't usually buy the same stuff at the grocery store every week, so I am open to getting things on sale. I also try to buy fresh produce locally instead of canned or frozen, if possible. That might be hard to do with cold weather coming.

I am lucky that I have a decent-paying job, and my partner does as well. This winter will be hard on a lot of people.

My dogs are happy because dog treat prices have skyrocketed, and that means I buy low cost, on sale meat cuts for them. MUCH cheaper!

and otherwise is going up here. It is hard to believe. Hershey's I buy in bulk has gone up $7 in about 4 months. Price gouging. So I am trying to wean myself off of it. good luck, lol. I had started eating it after my father's death because he ate it and I used to buy it for him and there was a box left over. Then a friend sent me some godiva and I ended up switching to hershey's. I had lost about 15-20 pounds then and it helped me gain weight back. But now I am kind of hooked on it.

Have been to reduce meat as a centerpiece for dinners.
Our breakfasts are usually yogurt and musli or cooked cereal.
Lunches tend to be left overs. Helps with my weight loss program.

No car. Bike and transit.

I do pick up extras of long lasting food when on sale. But that is a hobby. I don't buy clothes unless there is a need. I am currently working on culling my wardrobe by attrition.

But I have three jobs so I just keep working. The food prices don’t scare me so much, but the maintenance on the house is increasing so much. Just got a new roof for 24,000 which three years ago would’ve been 18,000. Now I need a new gutters which will be 2000. My air-conditioning will have to be replaced in the next few years. Thankfully I already painted the inside and outside of the house two years ago. I can’t imagine how much that went up in price. Life goes on.
