🚨BREAKING on @kfabnews: @SenSasse will imminently announce his intent to resign from the U.S. Senate to pursue another opportunity in higher education. While the process could take a bit, the announcements are expected "imminently".

Why would Sasse move across the country away from his political base? Why would University of Florida want a guy with no connection to the state?
Just WUT?

Ben Sasse is likely to accept a job at the University of Florida and resign his Senate seat in the near future, according to two people familiar with the Nebraska Republican's plans.

(34,455 posts)University with the size and stature of U of Florida to choose a candidate from outside the state or even outside the country.
Dr. Sasse has held several prior academic positions, including presidency at a small university. He was apparently a good fundraiser, a critical part of the job.
Big university presidents make a ton of money, compared to Senators, and have speaking and board of directors opportunities that further increase the $.
So I dont find it surprising at all that they would choose him or that he would leave the Senate now.

(8,656 posts)So either something is coming down the line or he doesn't want another couple of years of insignificance.
He's only 50, only his 2nd term of a cushy number.
Something does not sit right unless he knows his stance of TFG will get him thrown out but he still has 4 years on his term....
Very strange.
especially for someone who has long envisioned himself as a future President of the United States.
