seems that Wemple is unhappy that Haberman is getting called out for her mendacity in covering Trump, the apricothellbeast.
snip-"In an interview with the Erik Wemple Blog, Haberman said she worked with the Times and her publisher to get the news out when it was most relevant. In the case of the Trump quote about hunkering down at the White House, for example, the author said that if shed nailed it down around the time it was uttered, she would have published it. As it turned out, she got it during her reporting for the book well after the conclusion of Trumps second impeachment trial, in which it would have been a relevant item."
snip-"New York Times spokeswoman Danielle Rhoades Ha issued this statement on the criticism: Maggie Haberman took leave from The Times to write her book. In the course of reporting the book, she shared considerable newsworthy information with The Times. Editors decided what news was best suited for our news report.
Haberman was an unreliable reporter during those years.
She herself ruined her name, honor and reputation chasing access and expecting a big payout from her book. Given that the Haberman family did PR in NYC, & for Trump business' the anger and criticism she is getting must be a surprise.
It should not be.

(115,877 posts)looking at a terrible road accident is fascinating - it's awful but you can't look away. Irrespective of Haberman's methods or intentions, there's a lot of material (some of which, to be fair, she didn't learn until after TFG was gone from the WH) that's making me go, OMG, he's even worse than I thought! I doubt that any new reporting of TFG's malfeasance will affect his MAGAt cult members, but there's plenty of scary shit here. Let's not shoot the messenger.

(82,849 posts)It seems that NewsMax would be a better fit. Or the corner of 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue as long as the Shoutycrackers Messiah isn't holding forth.

(13,197 posts)CNN would do well to pick up Haberman. I watch CNN and MSNBC primarily, but CNN is the better fit by far. I doubt she'd take the gig though.

(58,785 posts)investigate journalist who's worked for world-class investigative journals. She's accused of not reporting factual information when it might have made a difference.
She's NOT accused of reporting contemptible and absurd far-right deceits on a slimy RW extremist tabloid to an idiot far-right extremist audience --
who have no respect for truth and demonize everything they don't like but are far too dishonest and ignorant to know why.

(115,877 posts)Maybe paying attention to the message is more useful than shooting the messenger. We can argue all day about the timing of this and other books about TFG, but we shouldn't be distracted from what's in them.

(28,276 posts)What evidence do we have that the DOJ would have done anything different, with an earlier notification of the information Haberman had collected?

(5,657 posts)She sounded very reasonable (more than when I've seen her on TV) and they did point out that a lot of criticisms of her were unfairly based.
