Ukrainian forces report Starlink outages during push against Russia

Is Elon Musk punishing Ukraine for not accepting his demands/peace proposal?

Ukrainian troops have reported outages of their Starlink communication devices on the frontline, hindering efforts to liberate territory from Russian forces, according to its officials and soldiers.

Thousands of Starlink terminals, which are made by Elon Musk-owned SpaceX, were donated by the company, purchased by the US government or crowdfunded by donors to help Ukrainian troops operate drones, receive vital intelligence updates and communicate with each other in areas where there are no other secure networks. The systems which connect a small antenna to a 35-centimetre-high terminal also provide internet for Ukrainian civilians.*

Some of the outages led to a “catastrophic” loss of communication in recent weeks, said one senior Ukrainian government official with direct knowledge of the issue. Many were reported as soldiers breached the frontline into Russian-controlled territory and some during pitched battles, the official said, speaking under the condition of anonymity......

If Elon is responsible for these outages, he needs to be held accountable

Financial Times reported Friday that a Ukrainian government official said that recent outages from the Starlink internet systems had caused "catastrophic" loss of communication for troops on the front lines in Ukraine's war with Russia, resulting in "panicked calls" from some soldiers to helpline numbers.

Ukrainian officials said connectivity issues started when Ukrainian soldiers liberated territory that was once Russian-controlled and moved past the front lines, according to the report.

The report prompted a response from Kinzinger on Twitter, who said that Musk "should make a statement."

"Or, this should be investigated," Kinzinger added. "This is a national security issue.

Just a few short years, the dark side is really feasting on Elon's looks.

He wanted to originally by Twitter because, a teenager was reporting musks whereabouts via Twitter. He wanted to ban the teen

So him cutting off the link falls Jones right with his sociopathy

For a guy who has so much money and power, he really does stupid ham-handed stuff

We've got a serious problem.

They can control who can access from where.

going on here. StarLink is still in "Beta" mode and, last I looked, outages on many parts of the network are still common (as are substantial variations in download/upload speeds).

I also would not be quick to blame Musk - for all we know now, the Russians may be jamming the thing.

The best thing that could happen would be for ford and GM to come up with a really high quality line of EVs and put him out of of business. I don’t think it’s impossible from what I am reading. The tesla is really not that great a car, and I’m being kind.
