(33,346 posts)2. Imagine acres and acres of asphalt parking lots shaded by solar panels.
Every 'high rise' with a roof garden and all spaces between windows that receive any sunlight being covered with solar panels.
A panel doesn't have to be situated for maximum collection if you have excess panels.

Have had issues in the past, especially for older buildings. The weight of the dirt or water for hydroponics and all that goes with it has proven to be too much for many a rooftop.
But there are ways to grow food in the city and incorporate the works into the building somehow.
