Inflation worries

Yesterday we went grocery shopping and it felt odd. Everyone seemed grim and in a sour mood. Because of the way my brain works these days, I could only imagine people walking around, being upset about the higher cost of food and blaming Biden and the Dems... and this depressed me as a bad omen for the midterms, where our democracy is truly on the line. Hopefully this was more my imagination and my general mood than reality.

But I really worry about inflation and that people are hurting and deciding that electing fascists is some kind of solution.
I wish more people understood that there is terrible global inflation right because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, climate disaster and the lingering pandemic, and that actually inflation is better here than most places, because of the policies of the Biden administration.

But of course the news media won't emphasize that, and of course treasonous fascist FoxNews will blame Dems and I worry people will think Republican fascists are going to solve their problems. God help us.

I've just changed what I buy. Pretty easy to give up eggs until they come down again. Gas is my biggest problem, but I've given up about 25% of the miles I use to drive. because I've seen it all before, I know it'll slow down and we will have a normal life again.
I've been thru Reagan and Nixon too. They went away too.

But a main driver is monopolies. Biden is trying to bust them up, but the REPUBLICANS won’t let him. Why isn’t this common knowledge?

We have the majority in both houses and the presidency. We pretty much can pass whatever the hell we want just as California does. Yes we have two wobbly Democratic senators, but breaking up monopoly might be something they would be cool with. Have we ask them?

Is there actually a concerted effort on the part of this administration to bust up monopolies? I haven’t seen that.

From Jan 2020 to now, we increased the amount of money in circulation by 40%, almost all of that via the federal reserve's QE purchases.

We're fortunate inflation has only been this bad. There is a lot of inflationary pressure because of that gap between realized inflation and the potential from the increase in the money supply.

Do people believe that, in general, everything is being done to support economic growth?

I think there are an awful lot of voters who will support the candidates they believe are committed to growth, economic development. It can be green- it better grow.

It makes some sense for the wealthy to feel that way. Obviously are paying less taxes. The govt has been spending way more than revenues since Clinton. Instead of staying on a reasonable fiscal path the rethugs always want less taxes for the wealthy. We need to hang on to our majorities. And expand them. It’s going to take years to get things turned around but we have to make it thru this next election.

higher gas prices wouldn't have happened

the border would be closed ..... and therefore we wouldn't have rainbow fentanyl coming across the border

and that is what they hear on fox news all day, every day!

taken over by Russia fairly quickly and maybe the economic hit on gas would have been less... but OTOH Putin would be much stronger and Ukraine would be run by a fascist and god knows what other havoc the two would try.

The border claims are all crap.
