Serious question about the Kerch Bridge . . . . .

This video appears to show a large truck just starting to go up the incline to the top of the bridge. Split second later it appears to explode.

Since the truck never stopped to allow a driver to abandon it, was it a suicide bomber?

Was the truck only there by coincidence and the explosion was really a planted bomb affixed to the bridge itself?

Was the truck carrying the bomb unknowingly and it detonated by timer or remote control?

Was the vehicular bridge damage linked to the rail bridge damage or was that more coincidence?

I keep seeing posts alluding to an explosion on a bridge, but couldn't piece together exactly what happened.

I'm just reading stuff and that kind of makes sense.
Was the target really the train? Maybe that makes the most sense. It's the RR bridge Ukraine wanted to destroy. The road bridge is much less important.

The entire warhead is only 500 kg. The explosive punch is only part of that.

That explosion was much larger.

Russia has claimed it was a bomb in the truck, but many people think the explosion was external to it. A Ukrainian official is even stirring the pot by referring to dissent in the Russian ranks.

Truck bomb thing by a suicidal Muslim. It fits with their propaganda that it was terrorism. The party line.

6. Check at the 29 second mark in the video from Deutsche Welle reporting on the blast

What I don't know about demolition is pretty much everything, but look to the lower right, in the water below the roadway. Right around 29 seconds, you'll see what sure as shit looks like the bow of a boat, or at the very least the bow wave of a boat of some kind.

Maybe the Ukrainians running something radio controlled loaded with explosives? Maybe, but would need additional information and analysis. As noted elsewhere in this thread, speculation continues . . . .

Some speculation I saw on Reddit is that was a missile from a small boat - as suggested in the posting linked below: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142979180

You can get thousands of kg of high explosives into even a small boat.

Semi submerged and running with the tide it could come in very quietly and unseen.

If Russia deploys sub netting, that will be a clue.

10. Show me the truck debris. I do not believe the 'truck bomb' theory
Sun Oct 9, 2022, 12:25 PM

As the OP says, a truck bomb seems to imply a suicide mission; if so, likely it was the work of Crimean resistance.

Considering the damage done and the fallen roadway, would not a truck bomb have been better timed to damage the span over the shipping channel, at the same height as the rails to blow the train off the tracks?

If it was a boat under the low road, the explosion would have been partially contained, lifting the roadway and expanding up and out as the road fell off the supporting pillars. The explained idea that the road was damaged by downward force, if true, suggests to me the wisdom of being atop the high span.

And it had to go through an xray/chem scan on its way to the bridge.

Probably not crimean.

12. from the NYT: senior Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity
Sun Oct 9, 2022, 01:10 PM
Oct 2022

The Ukrainian government, which applauded the damage, did not publicly take responsibility for the explosion. One senior Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of a ban on officials discussing the matter, said that Ukraine’s intelligence services had orchestrated the attack and that it involved a bomb loaded onto a truck that drove across the bridge.

It was unclear if the driver of the truck, who appeared to have died in the blast, was aware there were explosives inside. In video captured by a surveillance camera on the bridge, a huge fireball is seen. A small sedan and a tractor-trailer truck driving side by side appear at the epicenter of the blast.
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/10/08/world/russia-ukraine-war-news#a-fireball-erupts-on-a-bridge-linking-crimea-to-russia

-- My thoughts
Size and characteristics of the explosion and fireball itself seems to rule out any missile that Ukr would have.

Everything I have seen points to explosion on the top of the roadway.

It is not apparent in the video that a truck bomb exploded, but it seems like the only way for Ukraine to deliver such a massive blast to me.

No idea about the driver or method of detonation.
