Covid death rates are higher among Republicans than Democrats, mounting evidence shows

Vaccines work. More people in counties carried by President Biden tend to have higher vaccination rates compared to counties carried by TFG. The death rates in these counties reflect the difference in vaccination rates.

Covid deaths are unevenly distributed among Republicans and Democrats.

Average excess death rates in Florida and Ohio were 76% higher among Republicans than Democrats between March 2020 and December 2021, according to a working paper released last month by the National Bureau of Economic Research. Excess deaths refers to deaths above what would be anticipated based on historical trends.

A study in June published in Health Affairs similarly found that counties with a Republican majority had a greater share of Covid deaths through October 2021, relative to majority-Democratic counties.

But experts are still puzzling over why these differences exist. Are lower vaccination rates among Republicans responsible? Or did mask use and social distancing guidelines prevent more deaths in counties run by Democrats?

The Yale researchers behind the new working paper say vaccine hesitancy among Republicans may be the biggest culprit.

"In counties where a large share of the population is getting vaccinated, we see a much smaller gap between Republicans and Democrats," said Jacob Wallace, an author of that study and an assistant professor of health policy at the Yale School of Public Health

Like not wearing masks, and going to crowded venues.

What a shame. Sarcasm implied.

So I am fully vaccinated. And plan on getting more jabs as recommended. I am on my 2nd vaccine card now.

She told me she had just returned from a lengthy stay in her home state of Florida. She said she had never had COVID because her doctor had prescribed Ivermectin for her. She implied that sinister leftist forces were responsible for the Democrats' belief that these bogus vaccinations would protect anyone from COVID, or that wearing surgical masks would protect anyone from COVID.

But even with two shots and a booster, I contracted covid about a month ago. I believe it was a mild case because of the vaccinations. With that said, my wife (who also had two shots and a booster) did not contract it. God knows she should have after being in such close proximity to me while I was showing symptoms. But, she has been using Hydroxychloroquine for an auto-immune disease for years. I'm of the opinion that it may have helped, and her PCP tends to agree. According to her PCP, HCQ blocks the virus from replicating in the early stages and is what probably kept her from getting infected.

As always, your mileage may vary.

former guy would say.

I'm disabled and am having my sixth joint replacement in the morning. Right shoulder to match the left. Hips and knees already done at 61. It occurred to me that with all these red staters applying for disability, the republicans might have to support them.

It's not like they learn anything by putting themselves in the ICU sucking on their freedumb tube. It would be nice if they would blame the people lying to them for being in that position, but you never see that. Many keep right on posting COVIDiot shit. Count on all of them to have their hands out.
