Fallon Smart was 14 when a visiting Saudi student ran her down at high speed in a crosswalk in front of her mother. She was my neighbor.

While awaiting trial, the driver was picked up in the dark of night by a black SUV. His cut-off ankle bracelet was found at a gravel pit. He was then whisked away by the Saudi government on a private jet. Two weeks later he tweeted from Rhiad that he was safe at home.

There have been many similar stories about accused felons have been "rescued".

Our addiction to oil make all of this possible.

Yes, they've reduce their "quotas" drastically (well by 2 million barrels). But the Saudis haven't been producing their quotas for a couple of years. The real "reduction" here is probably in the 2 - 3 hundred thousand barrels at most. Neither have the other OPEC nations. This is an attempt to influence the speculation markets. Biden can easily release oil reserves of that amount for the short term. The speculators may not be impressed, but in a couple of months, the reality will sink in that there is plenty of oil out there. Remember, right now the US is the largest oil producing nation in the world (unfortunately in part due to fracking). The worst effect here may be on the midterms.

FACT SHEET: Biden Administration Responds to Putin’s Price Hike by Awarding First Barrels from Historic Strategic Petroleum Reserve Release & Deploying Affordable Clean Energy

Home | Briefing Room | Statements and Releases

Today, the U.S. Department of Energy announced that it has awarded contracts for all of the initial 30 million barrels it put up for sale as part of President Biden’s historic Strategic Petroleum Reserve Release. These barrels will be delivered in May and June, and are the first U.S. sale in the largest release from reserves from both the United States and the rest of the world in history. Together, these releases will put more than one million barrels per day on the market over the next six months, and will help address supply disruptions caused by Putin’s further invasion of Ukraine and the Price Hike that Americans are facing at the pump.

The initial sale of barrels from the release garnered strong interest and was substantially oversubscribed: DOE received bids for a total of 76 million barrels, or more than doublethe number of barrels put up for sale.

I read that if the US cuts off weapons sales (multi billion dollar deals) there will be a huge impact on American defense jobs.

Also, Saudi’s Arabia can and has made arms sales with China, Russia, UK and France. It’s a mess!
