I've heard some political commentators say that Republican leaders are still supporting

Walker because "they have no other choice". That's a damned lie.

Their screwed-up party chose to run a world-class screw-up as their candidate for the US Senate and---to the surprise of virtually no sentient being---he is disintegrating before their eyes.

What choice do they have? They could say "We were wrong. Herschel Walker is not fit to sit in the Senate" and let the chips fall where they may.

When apathetic Illinois Democrats ignorantly chose radical Lyndon LaRouche-backed Mark Fairchild as their Lt. Governor candidate in 1986, they disavowed him, advocated a last-minute write-in and narrowly lost the Governor's mansion. That's what leaders of character do.

Republicans are not victims of unforeseen events. They made the wreaking bed in which they now lie and they have chosen to wallow in it rather than get up and walk away.

They have Republicanitis. It is the inability to admit they were wrong. halfulglas Oct 2022 #2

Anyone with a shred of sense can see Walker is a walking disaster. The desire for control must be overwhelming to tolerate many of the absolute fools and outright liers the repukes allow to share the mantle of party backing. Hershel is only one of many. This predilection will hopefully lead to their demise.

They cannot drop their support from the handpicked candidate of their dear leader who has this disease in spades.
