two made-up Republican memes that are total bullshit. My guess is that even many Republicans don't agree with each other on their meanings.
To me, they are conversation enders. Anytime some idiot says one of them to me, or some pundit utters them, I'm gone.

(2,175 posts)Qpublicans are good at working off the same message, that even though its made up, the base gets triggered by it. After these get played out, new outrage will come.

(6,037 posts)Good "woke" one acknowledging the current injustices that exist in our society, and confronting the fact that they are partly due to the fact we haven't dealt with past injustices. And more importantly Wyoming to be part of the effort to try and find solutions to the problems to make our society better.
I'll let Jonathan Pie talk about the bad kind of woke
I'll wager the 10 bucks in my wallet that 99% of people of Mexican origin aren't offended by a Mexican restaurant in the UK handing out fake sombreros to college students as a means of promoting their restaurant.

(25,598 posts)Just like politically correct, social justice warriors. For years, young women thought feminism meant hating men or trying to be like men -- "I'm not a feminist but ... ."

(18,672 posts)There was too brief a time when racists had to hide their racism and misogyny or face being publicly called out for their abominable behavior (cancel culture). Being woke is simply acknowledging that people different from yourself deserve to be treated as fellow human beings and deserve to have the same basic human rights (people of color, gays, different genders, etc.). I believe in the basic tenets of wokeness and cancel culture, no matter how the right tries to frame these things or ridicule them. They used to demonize "political correctness" which is also another phrase for manners, respect and civility. They've also demonized compassion and basic human kindness over the years as things that make one weak. They will always try and bastardize a good thing, twisting meanings and flipping words in attempts to justify their crass, lowest common denominator human behavior.

It's a formula.
