https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/fla-to-strip-licenses-of-k-3-teachers-who-discuss-gender-identity-sexuality/ar-AA12VLOpThe rule, proposed in August and approved by Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. in September, is intended to enforce a 2021 state law that forbids instruction on gender identity and sexuality for children in kindergarten through third grade. The measure, the Parental Rights in Education Act, is known by opponents as the dont say gay law.
The Florida Department of Education has done little to publicize its rule on teachers licenses. The rule appeared online around the same time that the state was taking damage from Hurricane Ian, which has left more than 100 dead. News of the rule was first reported Tuesday by the newsletter the Progress Report.
The rule states that any teacher who intentionally provide[s] classroom instruction to K-3 students on those two topics will face revocation or suspension of the individual educators certificate, or the other penalties as provided by law.

(2,945 posts)their own brand of private schools. I don't know how it is in FL but in Az public school teachers no longer need to be certified. Depending on the individual state law, under a new brand of private schools the state would have no control over what was taught in these brand of private schools.

(866 posts)What the hell. Have they ever taught little kids? Teachers are just trying to get them to read. But then Youngkin got elected here in Virginia because of Critical Race Theory, which is not taught in any public school and school being closed during the pandemic. So thats all they offer: make up a problem and then run against it.
