The j6 committee has the con man boxed in

If he refuses to show up he will be held in contempt and possibly jailed,
if he shows up and lies under oath he will commit perjury and be jailed
if he tells the truth he will admit his crimes and jailed
if he pleads the fifth What happens ?

1. Meadows didn't show up, and he isn't going to be charged.

Neither will Trump be charged.

If he pleads the fifth, nothing will happen. It couldn’t even be mentioned in a criminal case. It certainly can’t be the basis of a charge.

the committee wouldn’t allow him to ‘defend himself.’

Well he has his chance now. The fact that he probably won’t show doesn’t help him one bit.

Pure speculation of course but I think Meadows may have flipped on Trump. Which might explain why Meadow wasn’t charged for contempt of congress.

From Brooklynite.

EXCLUSIVE: Former President Donald Trump "loves the idea of testifying" before the House select committee investigating January 6th, a source close to Trump told Fox News Digital just after the panel unanimously voted to subpoena him.

The source said that if Trump complied with the subpoena and testified, he would "talk about how corrupt the election was, how corrupt the committee was, and how Nancy Pelosi did not call up the National Guard that Trump strongly recommended for her to do three days earlier on January 3, 2021."

The source told Fox News Digital that it is unclear at this point if Trump actually will testify before the committee, but stressed that Trump "loves the idea."
