Sore arm, which is almost gone, and some fatigue that is lingering.
My husband and I both went to Walmart Pharmacy. Of course, he never gets any reaction to any vaccination and I always get something to whatever they give me. I had only had Pfizer and he had only had Moderna before (2 + 2 boosters each). The nurse was very attentive and even spent a good deal of time talking with me afterwards when I was anxious about having side effects. I am so relieved that we went. We made appointments online and there was no waiting.
While we were there, I asked the pharmacist about getting free test kits. We're both on Medicare, so he said we can each get 4 kits (2 tests in each kit) every month. He loaded us up with a total of 8 kits!
In case anyone thinks this is over the top, you never know when you'll be needing them. We had a house guest show up with Covid in July. At that point, we had all our free kits from the post office. Suddenly, we had 3 people testing very often and we used up all our kits in no time. I bought more online before my husband went to Walgreens and brought home his 4 free kits that day. We've sort of slacked since then, but now are deciding we'd better stock up again.
We still mask up wherever we go, and we don't go to very many places. I can tell you that when we got our shots, we were the only people we saw anywhere in the store, besides the nurse and the pharmacist, who were masked. It's just not a thing anymore. No one has confronted us about it, for which I am thankful.

(108,980 posts)At first I was going to do them separately, but it was so hard to find an appointment soon that I decided to do them both.
So I had two sore arms and a 99 degree fever the next day, but no big deal.
Glad to have all that over with! The hardest part was just finding the appointment . . .

(14,643 posts)I'm not allowed to get more than one vaccination within a month. I reacted badly to a flu shot last year, so doc is not even sure I should get one this year. Still, I might try next month.
Most of my friends get them both at the same time, feel a little tired for a day, and then are set. I think it's a great idea if you can do it!
We have no problems finding appointments, probably because we're in an area where people don't want to get vaccinations. My friend waited for hours at Walgreens last week, with an appointment, but there was no wait for us at Walmart.

(14,643 posts)Actually, every muscle in my body hurt and I was too fatigued to even watch tv. It lasted about 24 hours. Still, its a small thing compared to getting Covid.

(14,643 posts)Even when Im not feeling 100%. I did yoga on Thursday and just the sun salutations, which I do with push-ups, were challenging. Todays workout included lots of chin-ups and pull-ups. I guess it would have been worse if I hadnt been moving my shoulders so much. I also drink a lot of water. This really hasnt been bad at all compared to my first booster.
I have never had a pneumonia shot, although I want to get one. Doc, who is not anti-vax at all, wants me to be very careful and space them out quite a bit. Not sure if I should get shingles or pneumonia next. Ive heard shingles shot can be tough. Of course, my husband had no trouble with it.

(2,430 posts)No side effects on Saturday, maybe a bit more fatigue, but I'm always tired on Saturday. But Thursday hubby and I both tested positive for Covid. Very mild case so far. Started the Paxlovid within 3 hours of positive test. I feel much better today. Mostly just fatigue and runny nose. We are being very careful trying not to infect our housemate who lives on the other side of the house.

(65,060 posts)The arm with the flu shot was more sore than the COVID arm.
I felt a little flushed & tired for 5 or 6 hours the next day. By the evening of that day, it was nothing.
My wife went to the same pharmacy a few days later. She got both shots. Zero side effects.
