Police said rumors of a serial killer in KC targeting women were untrue. Then a victim escaped.

KCPD Said Missing Black Women Reports In KC Were “Completely Unfounded.” Less Than A Month Later, One Escaped After Being Kidnapped From Prospect & Tortured in a Basement For Over A Month

https://kansascitydefender.com/justice/black-woman-kidnapped-prospect-excelsior-springs-serial-killer/

A bombshell multi-county investigation began last Friday when a 22-year old Black woman escaped bondage after being kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and held captive in the basement of an Excelsior Springs, Missouri man’s home. The man is identified as Timothy Haslett Jr., a white 39-year old male.

The woman was discovered around 8 a.m. last Friday, October 7th, when reports of a woman banging on doors and crying for help reportedly reached the police.

Ciara Tharp told The Excelsior Citizen that her grandmother provided the woman food and a blanket after bringing her inside Tharp’s home. The Kansas City Defender has been working collaboratively with The Excelsior Citizen, a local news outlet in Excelsior Springs, on this story.

The victim, identified by the alias “T.J.” in court records, told both Tharp and the police that her friends did not make it and had been murdered by Haslett.

“She made the comment about her friends. That they didn’t make it and that he had killed them,” Tharp said. “I’m really hoping that they find evidence about her friends. If anything, she can have closure about her friends. I just hope they can find everything they need to.”

She should be able to sue them for ignoring the people reporting the missing women resulting in her being tortured for a month and the deaths of the other women.

It would be one thing if they had been even looking and couldn't find him, but to just say nothing to see here...

Horrible.

to the article about the woman's escape and the reports of other missing women being ignored.

But that's not what I was asking for. I was responding to a post about his FB profile. I cannot see that profile because I am not on FB. The meaning of "profile" in this case is not a side view picture. A FB profile would have whatever information the guy posted about himself, just like DU "profiles" contain information about ourselves that we enter onto our profile page.

All I found in his profile was some bare bones personal information (where he went to school and stuff like that) and a handful of pics. His profile pic is somewhat noteworthy, I guess: a creepy drawing of a guy in a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey and a hockey mask, with an ax slung over his shoulder. Sort of looks like Jason Vorhees, I guess (I haven't seen any of the Halloween movies, so I don't know for sure).

I don't know if the profile has been cleaned out and others saw stuff I didn't see, but as of now, it's not very interesting.

I have honestly never seen any of those movies (the"mad slasher" genre isn't my cup of tea), so it's not really surprising that I got it wrong.

I probably should have just said the pic looked like a creepy ass guy looking for someone to kill. Oh, well.

Police in Milwaukee famously ignored the deaths and disappearances from his 1987-91 killing spree, because the victims were mostly minorities and all gay.

Dahmer himself appeared to be aware of this negligence, and sped the pace of his killings accordingly.

He was caught practically out of sheer luck - because, as in this case, a would-be victim of his escaped.

And these days, they have a lot more surveillance at their fingertips.

These guys go after "throwaway women," usually but not always hookers, usually but not always POC. This monstrosity was active for 42 years because the cops wouldn't believe missing hookers were a) worth anything and b) connected in some way.

They never did pin any of the 60 murders he was suspected of on him, I don't think he ever told anyone where the bodies were or how he'd disposed of them when they finally died of torture.

I am delighted to say he's dead, he died in prison.

Not too marginalize the murders in the least; but a few years ago they made a gruesome - though interesting - horror film based on the Toy Box murders - named, simply enough, The Toybox.

With today's surveillance capabilities, these sprees should never go on that long. But as you noted, if there's no interest...
