(53,784 posts)gross malpractice? How in the world could they ever ok building permanent homes on that thin spit of sand only connected to the mainland by a vulnerable causeway...AND IN HURRICANE ALLEY NO LESS, which is what much of Florida is.
Just nuts. The whole lot of them should be sued. The home owners, probably first time home owners, obviously didn't do due diligence, or even understand the need to do due diligence in such an obviously hurricane-prone site.
Just insanity.

At some point, moving to Florida should be a big insurance risk, in every way imaginable.

(4,831 posts)14 story building....flooded first floor. No power still. Everyone out, generators powering dehumidifiers. She had hurricane glass put in five years ago...no trouble but others were not so lucky. 40 mobile homes next door washed into bay along with my sister's car. gone.
Some year rounders were in the place when Ian came. Apparently took some dramatic pictures.
Oh and sand 3' deep covers the road out front.
Sis says the car had a sign that read "Fish Fear Me' on trailer hitch. Now somewhere at the bottom...Fish swimming by were laughing.
Yeah? How do you know they can even read the sign?
She said they were all traveling in Schools!
