DODGE CITY, Kan. (KWCH) - Kansas’ 2021 Officer of the Year has been indicted on charges of rape and aggravated sexual battery. A Ford County grand jury returned an indictment against former Dodge City Police Officer Guillermo Gutierrez on Tuesday, October 4.

In 2021, Gutierrez was chosen as the statewide Kansas Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, according to the Dodge City Police Department’s Facebook page. He was the first law enforcement officer from southwest Kansas to receive the award.

The charges stem from an incident alleged to have occurred on May 19, 2022, in Dodge City. Records show Gutierrez is accused of having non-consensual sex with a woman he knew was under the influence of alcohol.

12 News spoke with a woman who said she had encounters with with Gutierrez as an officer and that he got her boyfriend deported. She said learning about the charges against the former Dodge City officer didn’t surprise her.

Major pet peeve: it pisses me the fuck off when these douchebags are called "former" or "ex" police officers. They were officers at the time of the allegations.... They're only former because they got caught.

Why can't citizens decide on the folks that patrol their communities?

it would appear that he was still an officer, which he is not. And it does state that this happened while he was an officer.

It gives immediate distance to the police industry.

You don't have to share the pet peeve.

especially if he was one when the event occurred and it happened recently.
