US sanctions on Chinese semiconductors ‘decapitate’ industry, experts say

‘This is what annihilation looks like,’ tech expert Jordan Schneider said after mass resignations ‘paralyze’ Chinese chip industry

The Biden administration’s sweeping new export controls aimed at cutting off China from obtaining chips used in supercomputers has caused the “complete collapse” of the Communist country’s semiconductor industry, according to one expert.

“This is what annihilation looks like: China’s semiconductor manufacturing industry was reduced to zero overnight,” Lidang, CEO of Hedgehog Lab, said in a Twitter thread.

Rules announced by the US Department of Commerce last week restricting “US persons” from involvement in manufacturing chips in China had led to mass resignations of American executives from Chinese firms.

Lidang said this had the effect of “paralyzing Chinese manufacturing overnight”, and that the industry was in “complete collapse” with “no chance of survival”.

Wonder what the MAGAts will say now about Joe being a shill for China? Seems this would obliterate that nonsense.

The US Commerce Department said in a statement announcing the new controls that they were in response to China using supercomputers and semiconductors to create weapons of mass destruction and commit human rights abuses.

and... wait, what? How do you arrest a company?

Any companies that violated the sanctions could face arrest by the US Department of Justice.

Pentagon Bans Sale of Chinese Phones on U.S. Military Bases (ZTE)

The Pentagon is moving to stop the sale of Chinese-made phones from Huawei Technologies Co. and ZTE Corp. in and near U.S. military base stores for “potential security threats” they say the devices could pose.

ZTE, a company involved in hacking American cyber security.

A $500 million loan to Trump related projects works wonders to make America protect Chinese jobs. And some patents for Ivanka.

Too bad our coal miners did not think of that.

When commercial interests coincide, everything is just peachy keen.

However, once China's political and military agenda no longer were compatible with our own, we weren't left with many options. However nasty they were to their Uighurs, no one ever claimed Sinkiang was a separate country. All we could do was to sympathize and make the occasional UN speech. However, making threatening gestures toward Taiwan that went beyond the usual "part-of-China" lip service was a game changer. Taking Pacific atolls that were little more than rhino horns poking above the water's surface, making them into artificial islands of reclaimed land, calling them Chinese territory and building military bases on them close enough to make our allies nervous--that goes beyond the "we can ignore that" phase. Where Trump was for sale, Biden never was, and at age 80, sure couldn't care less about any bribes now. For all their long-term strategic planning, if the Chinese leadership couldn't see this coming, they just can't grasp the concept that some people just aren't for sale. That doesn't make them unique, of course. Ever heard of "the Republicans?"

If the Chinese government wants to bribe us into closing an eye to their actions, they need to invent some way to burn coal without causing any pollution, and then offer it to us in exchange for letting them continue their imperialistic dreams. Seeing as how the air is so thick in some of their cities, you can cut it with a knife, one has to assume that they have have no such technology as of this point.

He thought China was such an economic powerhouse, the factory to the world, it could call the shots.

The world has done nothing as China builds up its military, plans to take territory in the Pacific,
has plans to invade Taiwan, working on becoming a world superpower, make the yuan a global currency, etc.

But then Covid hit and China lost $trillions and still is hemorrhaging money every month.

Real estate scandals also hit, regular Chinese people lost their life savings, and the zero covid policy
is making people prisoners in their homes for years.

There was even a very rare recent protest against Xi in Beijing.
Totally unheard of, so it is a sign of how angry the Chinese people must be.

Then of course the course the complete debacle of the invasion of Ukraine. Putin and Xi had plans to
become global 21st century superpowers. Putin takes control of the west, Xi the east. Putin gets his way
by threatening nukes, China threatens economic Armageddon.

China and Russia have been working for years to weaken western democracies with their information warfare
and installing of fascist puppets in Europe and the US. Everything was going so well.

They did not count on Joe Biden standing up to them.
