Lt. Col. Roman Malyk was a top military official in charge of Putin's mobilization. Malyk's body was reportedly found hanging in an apparent suicide near his home.

(16,399 posts)Anyone in his position would have to be a world class psychopath to NOT be depressed and guilt ridden over what he was being made to do. And I'm sure death would have been the only escape open to him. The second he refused to do Putin's bidding, he would have been a dead man walking. Might as well make his exit on his own terms.

(12,425 posts)Of course, some are probably ordered by Putin, but others are Putin's allies. Did they have a falling out (no pun intended) or could there be a rogue group within the security forces that is knocking off some of these loyalists, to send Putin a message. IIRC, there was some intel "leakage" to the Ukrainians by some in the security forces.
