First of all, a former president should be treated no differently than a common citizen.

They should get the respect they deserve. They should not get more than they deserve.

If they run a stop sign and get a ticket, they should have to pay it.

If they burn down their neighbor's house, they should be charged with arson.

If they commit any crime, they should be held accountable.

If they steal the nation's secrets and attempt to hide them from the FBI, then they should be charged with a crime. If they incited a mob in an attempt to overthrow our government, it cannot be over-looked or dismissed.

We fought our Revolution to free ourselves from the yoke of a King. We do not wish to put ourselves back under the control of a King.

No other former President was charged or convicted of a crime against our nation. This would be the first time. This would be a precedent.

Those that stand with a criminal against our people and our Constitution are no better than the criminal.

It is time to take a stand. Do you stand with our Constitution or do you stand with a criminal?

doubt to acquit. If their actions raise suspicions that can't be innocently explained, guilty. Sorry to be so harsh, but my dad was a commanding officer and we all knew to not get sucked into compromises with ethics.

And a constitution, so justice is not left to the whim of such a ridiculous standard.

I read that somewhere.

Maybe not as drastic as you describe, but certainly elected officials should have to rise to a *somewhat* elevated standard, imho.

That's what Washington wanted by his example, in the model of Cincinattus(sp).

Sometimes I think some people should start their educational process all over again. (Perhaps they should start in the first grade?)

They seem to have learned nothing about history or civics?
