A Trump Political Committee Bought $131,000 Worth Of Books. Four Days Later, Jared Kushner's Hit The

One of Donald Trump’s political committees spent $158,000 on books just weeks after the release of Jared Kushner’s memoir.

“Breaking History: A White House Memoir” hit book shelves on Aug. 23. Two weeks later, the Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, which raises money for two Trump PACs, paid retailer Books-A-Million $131,000 for “collateral:books,” according to a campaign filing made Saturday with the Federal Election Commission.

On Sept. 11, four days after that bulk purchase, Kushner’s book appeared for the first time on the New York Times best sellers list.

On Sept. 22, Save America purchased another $27,000 worth of books. “Breaking History” spent five weeks on the best-seller list before falling off.

...about 20 years ago in the NYT Book Review. Their "sources and methods" found out about the right-wing "think" tanks and book clubs scamming the best-seller lists and acted accordingly, by creating an indicator to show that many of the book sales were not legit. It turns out that most of these books are bought for pennies on the dollar and given away at the "think" tank rubber-chicken fundraisers. Many are also given away as premiums for joining right-wing book clubs and media groups (I recall WorldNetDaily being one of them). Anything they can't give away goes to the dollar stores or is shredded.

Apropos, there was a minor scandal and lawsuit a few years ago where it was revealed that authors like Ann Coulter were being cheated out of royalties. Apparently there was a legally obscure clause in their contracts that stated (very unclearly) that any books that were part of this scam earned them no income at all. Couldn't happen to nicer people!

and other low end outlets.

When I shopped there, I'd turn all the books written by r's around, or put them behind the other books. And I noticed they don't sell. Makes me happy.

Certain entities "buy in bulk" so as to fool the public into believing it's a "bestseller".

I saw receipts for his donations to political pacs that gave him those books.

Funny thing not one of the books had evidence they had been read, the spines were still intact. The guy was such a major douche that before we finished packing him up his wife announced she was divorcing him. We got another moving truck for his stuff and he moved to Reno where he said people were more sane!

This is why O'Reilly's 'history' books never fail to be on the NYTBSL.

One year, one of Hillary's books and a Palin fantasy came out the same week. The wingers bulk saled the crap out of the Palin book. In the end,Hillary's book topped the best seller list and Palin's ended up 2nd. That was a lot of effort for just a bunch of table levelers.

secretaries. Who is responsible for that chaos? The president, but Kushner sees nothing but anodyne executive excellence. The Trump that everyone else has written about screamed at people daily in the Oval Office in between Twitter and Fox News orgies. The language was disgusting. He lied every day. He threw food against the wall. He tore up government documents and flushed them down the toilet. Trump hawked bleach and animal medicines to kill COVID on national TV ... Kushner does not directly acknowledge that Trump lost the election or reproach Trump for not conceding the election. He does not recognise Trump was disgraced by being impeached – twice. While Kushner says that the attack on the Capitol was “wrong and unlawful”, he adds, “what is clear to me is that no one at the White House expected violence that day”. That is not true ..."

I wouldn't think of buying a book by these right hacks. Other than that slight adjustment to indicate bulk sales, there doesn't seem to be any other criteria to indicate it's an expensive price for fireplace kindling.

Only an indicator of sales. That's why it's called the "bestseller" list, and not the "best quality" list.

I know what we will be seeing next spring. Some folks actually hold on to those vanity books for a year or more, but we are so conflicted about what to do with them. We want to put them in the dumpster and I, personally, would like to burn them, but just can't do something like Hitler did. We have all of Bill O'Reilley's "Killing...(Jeebus, Kennedy, Patton, Lincoln, Reagan&quot books and not a one has sold in over 10 years. We can't even give them away. I imagine the same will be true of idiot Kushner's book. Bleah!!!!
