Spokesperson confirms plan to continue with immigration stunts which have attracted investigations and lawsuits

The Republican governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, plans to continue flying undocumented migrants to Democratic strongholds, his spokeswoman said on Saturday, a day after released records showed the state paid nearly $1m to arrange two sets of flights to Delaware and Illinois.
Documents released on Friday showed that the planned flights will transport about 100 migrants. They were scheduled for before 3 October but were halted or postponed. The contractor hired by Florida extended the window for the trips until 1 December, according to memos released by the state transportation department.
Asked why the flights were postponed, DeSantiss communications director, Taryn Fenske, said Florida had been busy dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
While Florida has had all hands on deck responding to our catastrophic hurricane, the immigration relocation program remains active, Fenske said.

The Lincoln Project is closing the week trolling Floridas Governor, as he stumps for General Election candidates in Pennsylvania and Ohio, by purportedly pointing out the master strategist behind the curtain. In a Friday press release entitled DeSantis rallies with extremists Doug Mastriano and J.D. Vance, a Lincoln Project co-founder named DeSantis rapid response director as the Governors go-to for campaign game plans.
Its no surprise to see Ron DeSantis amp up his campaign against Donald Trump by campaigning for edge-case candidates like J.D. Vance and Doug Mastriano, said Rick Wilson, The Lincoln Project co-founder. Directed by his master strategist Christian Pushaw (sic), an alt-right activist who speaks fluent MAGA and directs all aspects of his campaign, DeSantis isnt just embracing candidates known for their ugly misogyny and open rebellion against our country, Wilson continued. These people arent just who hes endorsing; theyre who he is.
Christina Pushaw was hired as DeSantis Press Secretary last year, leaving the position this summer to take the rapid response role in the Governors re-election campaign. She did not take the bait, tweaking Wilson for misspelling her name in the press release quote. All I have to say is anyone who wants to write press releases about me should at least know what my first name is, she texted Florida Politics, sidestepping Wilsons attacks.
DeSantis appears to have engineered these rallies, according to Pennsylvanias Mastriano, who sounded starstruck describing how the DeSantis campaign recruited him for the Keystone State event. Im like, are you kidding me? Heck yes, Mastriano, the state Senator told the right-of-center One America News Network. This mattered to him, he added, because my goal as governor of Pennsylvania is to make it the Florida of the North because he set the gold standard for the good a Governor can do leading a state as opposed to what we have in Pennsylvania.

Taking people places under false pretenses is fraud. Whatever is promised to entice these immigrants to get on these planes isn't delivered on arrival.

(22,129 posts)But I do like the tit for tat, on not doing business w/ FL businesses (or TX for that matter), for every plane load shipped. And by the way, how are these governors getting by doing a federal government function, in the interstate transport of immigrants or people across state borders? Wouldn't this be called 'kidnapping'?
