45. Polls like this are not useless.

The are used by professional campaign personnel. Most people who vote for a congressional candidate don't know them. They are a name on the ballot. So they tend to vote by party with Indies shifting around from party to party depending on the election. In these polls Democrats generally need to have a pretty good lead just to break even in seats. The reason being Democrats are heavily concentrated in urban districts while Republicans are spread around.

Example in five districts of 100 voters each Democrats win two districts 80 to 20. Republicans win 3 districts 55 to 45. So Democrats got 295 votes and Republicans got 205 votes but won 3 districts and the Democrats 2. Very simplistic example but that is what generic polls are used for.

What ticks me off are all of the hand wringing over John Fetterman. He should do this, he should do that. No the hell he shouldn't, he should do what he is doing, being himself.

As I said, I don't believe in polls, and one of them shows Fetterman leading by 4 points. I have a bet for anyone who wants to take it, for charity, of course. I say Fetterman wins by more than 4 points. If he wins by 4 no one wins. For every point that Fetterman wins by less than 4 points I will pay 50 bucks, for every point that Fetterman wins over 4 points, anyone who wants to bet me owes 50 bucks, to charity, of course. Thanks for posting this. I have seen polls that used tiny samples and played with the likely voter parameters and then they breathlessly announce we lose... We are not going to fucking lose...we are keeping the House and the Senate. And GOP Medicare killing, women killing assholes that they are can fuck themselves. They are going to lose.
