"Dems Hold Enthusiasm Edge: For the fifth week in a row, D voters are more likely than Rs to say they are extremely or very enthusiastic about voting in the midterm elections, 63% to 58%. The 5-point gap is the largest Dem advantage Morning Consult has recorded in 2022"

(15,286 posts)In my R area, I'm not seeing the R intensity as measured by yard signs against 2020. There are houses that had yard signs out for Trump and down ballot Rs, but those have no signs out, at least not yet.
Over the weekend was on some R area roads I don't travel often and saw similar things. Houses that had D signs in 2020 have yard signs out, but only a couple properties with R signs.

(41 posts)I saw another thread about Clarke County (where UGA is, very blue), and someone reported long lines. I'm in Oconee County, which is right next to Clarke but is much more rural and conservative (~R+40). My husband voted yesterday first thing, and he said there were about 20 people in line when he went. My feeling is this is lower than 2020. I voted first day of early voting in 2020, and there were probably 60+ people in line, which is a lot given the small population of Oconee. However, I think lower turnout (or "less high" turnout in Oconee is a good thing, lol, given how conservative it is. I know Dems in Oconee are motivated. We were successful in getting two Independent candidates for school board added to the ballot. As you probably know, the number of signatures required creates quite an obstacle for such candidates, so the organizational efforts needed by Dems in Oconee were quite significant. (They decided it was more likely to get a left-leaning I candidate elected than a D given there are a lot of knee-jerk repubs in the county.)

(85,996 posts)....which puts pressure on voting day attendance for republicans.
What was just a Trump republican scheme to delay reporting of votes to provide room for sophistry and chaos has become a vote limiter for their party.

(7,107 posts)Weather events like that potentially prevent tens of thousands or more from going to the polls on the 8th.

(85,996 posts)NBC News: More than 130,000 votes were cast on the first day of early voting in Georgia, according to the Secretary of State's office. That surpasses the record for the first day of early voting in a midterm, which was set in 2018. @MSNBC
