My cohort (18 to 32, I am almost 26) in 2020 had the biggest turnout in history since the US lowered the voting age to 18, and we overwhelmingly voted Blue. Boomers and up as a cohort voted Red by clear majorities.

In 2024, Millennials and Gen Z will equal Boomers and up in terms of actual votes, not just numbers of eligible voters. Add in Xennials/Carter babys (micro gen born 1977-1980) and we will clearly outvote them. (I am a Zillennial, born in late 1996, within 2 months and a few days of the Millennial Gen ending and Gen Z starting, the Zillennial birth years are now accepted to be around 1992/3 to 1998/99).

Anyone who uses DU as their primary source of info about us younger (40 and under, and expecially 30 and under) folk in general (not just politics) is not being well served. This board is crazy tilted to the older cohorts. Go look at the 'What's your age' OP polls. I myself will soon no longer be in the 25yo and under choice on those polls (there are hardly any of us here as it is).

I am in a rural town in a "liberal" state. I am of course only speaking about my work environment and the people i run into. It's anecdotal, yes, but this is a forum where opinions are often worth listening to. Technically i'm a GenXer, but honestly, those labels are absurd on many levels. I would say that anyone who uses DU as their primary source of info for anything... is probably going to miss some things. And the boomers i deal with at work, btw, are more likely to be liberal. I work in a grocery store...

He certainly didn't do much to stop it except more tax giveaways for more filthy rich people and their corporations.

I mean if GOPers blame the president now for hard economic times, the president back then must also be blamed and held responsible.

Besides if he hadn't dismantled our pandemic response team 3 months before the pandemic hit, we may not have had such a huge crash.

GOPers have worse economic outcomes then Dems.

55. Fifty Years of Tax Cuts for the Rich Didn't Trickle Down, Study Says
Sat Oct 22, 2022, 09:11 AM

There is no tax cut fairy and tax cuts for the rich do not work in the real world

Tax cuts for rich people breed inequality without providing much of a boon to anyone else, according to a study of the advanced world that could add to the case for the wealthy to bear more of the cost of the coronavirus pandemic.

The paper, by David Hope of the London School of Economics and Julian Limberg of King’s College London, found that such measures over the last 50 years only really benefited the individuals who were directly affected, and did little to promote jobs or growth.

“Policy makers shouldn’t worry that raising taxes on the rich to fund the financial costs of the pandemic will harm their economies,” Hope said in an interview....

The authors applied an analysis amalgamating a range of levies on income, capital and assets in 18 OECD countries, including the U.S. and U.K., over the past half century.

Their findings published Wednesday counter arguments, often made in the U.S., that policies which appear to disproportionately aid richer individuals eventually feed through to the rest of the economy. The timespan of the paper ends in 2015, but Hope says such an analysis would also apply to President Donald Trump’s tax cut enacted in 2017.

“Our research suggests such policies don’t deliver the sort of trickle-down effects that proponents have claimed,” Hope said.
