In a 50-50 Senate, which part of that does MITCHELL NOT UNDERSTAND!!!
Speaker Pelosi was kind, "with all due respect"

I wish SOMEBODY would compel dear Andrea to RETIRE!!! She's WAAAAAAAAY past her sell-by date.
We used to call her Andrea "Oh but her EMAILS" Mitchell.

(81,295 posts)They always go easy on Republicans when their asses are on the hot seat.
They're A LOT rougher on Democrats of any and all stripe and level of achievement or electability.
And I cannot quite figure out why.

(584 posts).... when Nancy is not?
It's all in how you frame the question.
Mitchell does not care about truth, or news, as much as she cares about anyone but herself.

(111,267 posts)as a sham, a scam, a rich man's grift. Oh, she always knew that, I don't think you can live with Alan Greenspan and not know that, it's more that the rest of us know that.
I don't think she looks that rough, but the stress lines are starting to show. I'll agree that she's irrelevant and likely just a little bitter as she clings to her party line and talking points and tries to push buttons that have been largely disconnected.
I also liked Speaker Pelosi's "with all due respect..." You know she meant ZERO.

(28,262 posts)For decades, the radical right has depended upon, and profited outlandishly from, this goody-two-shoes behavior by the left. Enough, already. And to bloody hell with Andrea Mitchell.

(3,614 posts)Wishing ill-will against her is kind of sickening to me. She will retire and go on her way. But not soon enough for you.

(9,956 posts)... it looks like Mitchell did not answer the question. No, they did not have the Republican votes. It doesn't matter how hard you push... when the votes are not going to move. Why does the questioner ask this question? To make Biden and/or Pelosi look weak and ineffective?

Sounds like she's toeing the push the Maggats and denigrate the Dems line?

(13,582 posts)But she overstayed her welcome and should have been put out to pasture about a decade ago. MSNBC really needs to look hard at its legacy lineup. Many are well past their sell by date.
Andrea knows good and well that Senate needs sixty votes. I like how Nancy basically says to Mitchell, really Andrea, you dont know we need sixty votes! Why does Andrea act dumb as a rock at times-no offense to rocks.

(3,056 posts)We need way more Democrats to follow her lead in their dealings with the press. Mitchell's an idiot, always has been, and has been allowed to get away with this kind of drivel for way too long.
We have some GREAT young guns in our party...O'Rourke, Lieu, AOC, & Swalwell just to name a few. These guys are NOT afraid of a fight, and don't care if they're called a "liberal". Reagan made that an invective during the 80's and the Democrats spent the next couple of decades being afraid of the title. These guys embrace it. Pelosi can help them focus that energy. Follow the leader, guys. Follow the leader.

(37,160 posts)We need more of that, and with some people, much less low-key.
Make them look bad, make them look stupid on camera. Make them fear that as much as they fear showing "liberal bias."

(16,410 posts)This is often done to give the interviewee a chance to address those questions directly in their own words. I see instances of this all the time, where Rachel or Lawrence or whoever will ask a question they likely know the answer to as a way of setting things up for a guest expert to pontificate on the area of their expertise. When done properly, it can be very effective and so subtle one barely notices them doing it.
This was NOT an instance of that! Mitchell asked that question out of massive ignorance, and she then seemed to have a hard time understanding what Nancy was trying to tell her. It was clear from Nancy's reaction that she was taken aback by both the question and Mitchell's difficulty understanding why the Democrats in the Senate can't just pass whatever they want with that razor thin margin.
I agree that Mitchell needs to retire.

Belief in the Magic Bully Pulpit, that a good president can push/fight/take on with fiery speeches and everybody will do what he wants. Oh, come on. In some cases, the more push, the more stubborn.
