Marco Rubio debate vs. Val Deming

My husband's first comment: He won't look at her, and she won't take her eyes off him.

I missed the beginning and he said the beginning was tough to hear because the Spanish and English feeds were on simultaneously.

My comment: I must not have seen Marco Rubio in a while, because he looks very different.

1. Val Demings has Rubio flustered.

He's talking like he's a drowning man.

2. It's hard to decide if Demings won that last point without ever opening her mouth.

Moderator wanted to know if Rubio would accept the results of the next election. He started babbling, laughter from the crowd, but I can't tell if it was mocking laughter and then the moderator just wrapped it up, as in that's a yes, you will accept the results.

And then the black judge tried to give Demings a chance to say something and the moderator just walked right over him and asked the next question.

4. Next question had to do with mortgages, and Rubio's response tried to

claim it was a state issue, but Demings was given 60 seconds and tried to point out that there are things that we can do at the Federal level.

And then the white moderator gave Rubio 30 more seconds to rebut.

Next question has to do with mass school shootings.

He said that Rubio's position involving gun control is not the same as 2018.

Val has pointed out that he hasn't done nothing in the last 6 years to make it safer on this issue, and he reply doesnt' make sense.

On the subject of China Rubio came out strong with the idea of becoming independent from China, and we had to do more in the USA.

And Demings calmly pointed out that Rubio voted against the CHps(?) act, which would make us independent from China. And then she rebutted his argument that he was against pharmaceuticals by pointing out that he voted against INSULIN reduction costs! Not only was there applause for her point but the camera panned over to Rubio who was glistening with sweat!

30. Here's what stood out to me:

She is a woman, a Black woman. Woman politicians are expected/required to never show emotion.

Val Demings, especially during the gun control questioning, showed true, honest emotion. Rubio didn't know how to handle that. He was an automaton, she was a compassionate human being.
