HuffPostIn a segment aired Friday, Fox 2 news anchor Roop Raj asked Tudor Dixon, who has been vocal about her anti-abortion views, where she stands when it comes to rape, incest and life of the mother.
Dixon said she supports exceptions if a womans life is in danger, though she added that the health of the mother and life of the mother are two different things. Raj then asked specifically about rape and incest, providing the hypothetical example of a 14-year-old girl who has been raped.
Why not allow that person to have an abortion? he asked.
Dixon replied that her stance came from talking to rape survivors who have given birth, as well as people who are the children of rape survivors.
Ive talked to those people who were the child of a rape victim, and the bond that those two people made, and the fact that out of that tragedy there was healing through that baby its something that we dont think about, she said.

(22,754 posts)A lot of voters just vote straight R, without knowing anything about the candidates. Most likely because their parents were Republican.

(13,874 posts)She is forcing people to think about the real life consequences of rape and forced birth, and I think a majority of people are horrified by that prospect regardless of their political leanings.
A sane Republican friend of mine (voted for Trump in 2016 but not in 2020) said that in his almost all white country club many members are griping that their wives, who have always voted R, are going to vote Democratic this year solely because of the abortion issue.

(43,049 posts)If x number of teens are raped, they will have x number of reactions to the rape and any pregnancies that might arise from it.
And a teenager's brains and emotions normally aren't fully developed enough to fully understand her own thoughts on the matter. Every case is different, and must be dealt with individually. Confusing her with various pronouncements will do no good at all.
And we haven't begun to talk about the crazies who might be lurking in her friends and family.
