19 miles to go, Ellen. We're in the final stretch.
As I'm writing you this email, I've been traveling from one rally to the next and just got back on the campaign bus. With only 17 days left before Election Day, I'm visiting every single corner of Florida from the Panhandle to the Keys.
I've had a lot of long days and sleepless nights on my tour across Florida, so people often ask me what keeps me going.
Here's what I tell them: I think about the hardworking families like mine who deserve a leader that understands their lives, their struggles and their dreams. I think about our country's need to expand our Democratic Senate majority to protect our democracy.
And, in the background of all of this, I hear my mother's voice in my head telling me, "Never tire of doing good, Val."
That's what energizes me as I travel to all 67 Florida counties to surge ahead in this race. I know winning will make a meaningful difference for Florida and for our country but polls show me neck and neck with Marco Rubio right now.
That's why I'm asking for your support in the final stretch of my campaign. Unlike Marco Rubio, my average donation is just $29.04, so I rely on people like you to help me fund voter outreach and move forward in these final few weeks.
I'm about to hop off the bus at my next campaign event, so I have to ask: If you believe in this campaign and want to help me defend our Democratic Senate majority, will you split $25 today between my campaign and Kirsten Gillibrand's?

(2,083 posts)I love Demings, but not Gillibrand. Another recent donation had to be split 50/50 with someone I'd never even heard of (Jacky Rosen). Maybe this is an old tactic, and I can see the strategy behind it, but it rubs me the wrong way.

(131,138 posts)As to Jacky Rosen, she is/was a super-star.
an American politician serving as the junior United States senator from Nevada since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she was the U.S. representative for Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2017 to 2019.
Rosen was elected to the Senate in 2018, defeating Republican incumbent Dean Heller.[1] She was the only House freshman to win a Senate seat in the 2018 midterm elections and the only challenger to defeat a Republican incumbent senator in 2018.
Rosen was on Capitol Hill for the 2021 United States Electoral College vote count when supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol. At the time, she was in the Russell Senate Office Building before being evacuated to a secure, undisclosed location. She tweeted during the attack, calling the event "reprehensible" and writing, "It's time for us as a nation to come together and denounce hate and violence."[21]

(10,807 posts)But when driving through Pahokee and South Bay this Friday, there were more Val Deming signs than any other. This is sugar cane farm country. It gave me a little hope. Just my observation.
