DeSantis asks judge to let him avoid deposition on why he ousted prosecutor

It’s official: Gov. Ron DeSantis is asking a federal judge to exempt him from giving a deposition about his motivation for suspending Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren.

The Florida governor’s lawyers already had indicated in court filings they would try to shield DeSantis from having to give a deposition in the lawsuit Warren filed to try to get his job back. In a motion this week, DeSantis’ lawyers said neither the governor nor his chief of staff, James Uthmeier, should have to submit to questioning under oath.

“Mr. Warren can no more depose the governor and his chief of staff than a plaintiff suing President Biden for an allegedly discriminatory executive action could depose the president or his chief of staff, Ron Klain,” the motion contends.

Hillsborough County’s twice-elected state attorney was abruptly removed from office in August. DeSantis pointed to pledges Warren signed with other prosecutors saying he would not pursue cases related to abortion or transgender healthcare, and to office policies against prosecuting certain low-level misdemeanors. Warren called his ouster a violation of free speech and said DeSantis’ motivations were political and is suing him in federal court.

People who say they know and do everything absolutely, positively the one and only best and right way, don’t want to chat about those actions under oath. Part of conservative DNA. When ya don’t know how to lead, govern or manage money you run for office as a Republican and are propped up by kindred spirits.

Taking an oath of office, totally breakable.
Speaking on the record under oath, impossible.

The “Oath keepers” with the oath of enlistment displayed on their regalia committed treason while storming the U. S. Capitol as domestic enemies of the Constitution. Yes trump do love his stupid people.

But, if your name is specifically mentioned in that lawsuit... well... guess what?

(Please stubbornly refuse to go. Please. I want to watch those state officers drag your ass down to that chair and sit you in it. They can, you know. You are not above the law, despite whatever that orange gibbon and his cronies may have convinced you of.)

I thought the manly and patriotic thing to do was to answer the summons swear to tell the truth and do just that. I guess I’m not a conservative Republican. Yeah for me.

He was just quick enough to act against the prosecutor, he should get no special favors. This must be chapter one in the r playbook. Deny n take no responsibility.
