Is there an Ornithologist in the house?

Trying to figure out my little bird friends.
Have a cute little bird house my Love put on the rail of the porch last year. A couple of chickadees raise a clutch last summer, but now the sparrows and chickadees are lined up going in and out. Kind of wonder what they are doing in there this time of year.

Might be storing seed in there. I have Blue jays and magpies burying seed in my yard. Hotler Oct 2022 #7

one time leave birdhouses out during the winter because sometimes they go in there to get out of the cold, rain or snow.
Actually late this summer we had a frog who decided a wren house was a great place to get out of the heat. He would peak out occasionally and make some noise. Only lasted a couple days. The wrens of course had left late June or early July. We also had one do this a few years ago and took pictures, but can’t find them unfortunately.

Going to get crowded in there with all of those birds, but would be warmer with all of that body heat.

I don't think they remember where they bury, just instinct to bury.
