That Joe Biden must be one heck of a guy to have so much influence everywhere to be the sole cause of inflation all over the world. Any Republican will tell you.

(21,636 posts)In many of these countries - apart from those, like Venezuela, with all-out currency crises - the cause, however, is basically the same: greedflation.
In Argentina, for instance, retailers complain that wholesalers raise prices "just in case" - and the wholesale market is mostly dominated by 10 (mainly right-wing) families.
A win-win for them: their profits are through the roof, while the center-left president (who's scheduled to meet with Biden soon) shoulders most of the blame.

(19,201 posts)of what's in front of their faces. Their entire world view is probably about the same.
They see inflation as what effects them, not what's happening around the world. To them, they are the world. Getting red-state Americans to think or care about others is almost impossible.

(21,636 posts)Carter had the same problem.
Few cared that inflation was 20% in the U.K. - or 100% in Argentina.
They only cared that it was 13% at home.

(32,002 posts)Blames Biden and Pelosi for reckless spending causing our inflation. Im getting so sick and tired of hearing it. I wish the Dems had more aggressive messaging. I probably see 8 Rethug ads for every 1 Dem ad on TV here.

(27,814 posts)Not to mention how he "stole the election" without leaving a scintilla of evidence behind that can be proven by the Republicans.
He's a wily one, Our Joe.

(19,201 posts)it's a wonder we don't control the entire earthly population, right?
If we can get "Brandon" elected and not leave a trace of our great deception, how come we don't do this in every election we want Democrats to win?
Of course these conspiracy theory crazies restrict their "deep thought" to their conspiracy theories, not reason or logic.

(37,332 posts)Joe Biden's influence. He's running the whole World now! Trump only wants to be prezident of the U.S.
Well, Putin's prezident of the U.S.

Next I guess they'll blame Biden for the drought that has resulted in the Mississippi River being too low for barge traffic.

(10,052 posts)Maybe I should tell conservatives here that it is Biden's fault or maybe better it is the conservatives in the UK causing world wide inflation. People have such unrealistic expectations and have a lack of intellectual curiosity beyond memes and that is the biggest problem right now.

(111,267 posts)and is the only place this is happening. It's everywhere.
Most of the inflation in the west has been caused by price gouging by energy and shipping companies as the world tried to get going again after the pandemic restrictions. Now Putin's war is throwing a wrench into the world economy.
In much of Africa, bakers have had to switch from wheat to things like cassava flour and ground dried beans to try to make bread because Putin's war has caused the price of wheat to skyrocket. There have also been riots because fuel for cooking is so expensive.
So the next time you're in the supermarket and wondering how you're going to stretch half a pound of burger to feed 6 people, know you're not alone. Everybody but the plutocrats who refuse to allow wages to be raised is going through the same thing.

(13,181 posts)By running away from the inflation issue, we give it strength. It gives Republicans the ability to sell people on a leap from the economic frying pan into the fire.

(49,002 posts)... cut taxes (for the rich).
That's what did Liz Truss in her one-arm self-backstab.
It's what Cons in Canada propose.
I'm sure recent quotes can be found of RepubliCONs saying the same thing.

There was an economist on the Jon Stewart show who claimed the main driver of inflation is that most countries have increased their money supply for COVID relief and are reluctant to decrease it.

India and China comprise well over 1/4 of the worlds population.
Maybe you should look further than just Africa.

(9,822 posts)Its never mentioned in the media, and you sure as hell wont hear of it from any politician.
Its the bubble of economic growth and consumerism, growing since the Industrial Revolution (actually somewhat since the start of agriculture) but especially since WW2. The cost of this bubble has been offloaded on to poor people around the world, and of course mainly on to our only home, the Earth.
Boy, didnt we Baby Boomers in the West enjoy the flowering of all the marvelous production afforded us by the Bubble; but most of us never thought wed actually see the beginning of the end of the world.

(185 posts)I was in the convenience store purchasing products business for 25 years. Whenever there was a change in taxes on both alcohol and tobacco, within a month of it being announced but not effective for several months, the stores would immediately raise prices and complain that the government raised taxes. The month that the taxes actually went up, they raised them again. The first raise was nothing but profit increases with the people being pissed off at the government. It appears were in that mode of pre-raise, raises in gas prices and everyone pissed at the wrong people.
