Adidas and Kanye West

So, the play for Adidas is just “let’s wait until all this blows over?”

It’s really kind of refreshing to see that corporate “tolerance, diversity and inclusion” bullshit get thrown right overboard when it comes down to “Hey, that’s 10% of our revenue.”

I guess they’ve run the numbers and have figured out that there are more Jew haters who would find their unflinching support for anti-semitism to be a positive instead of a negative.

crappy shoes anyway. I would also suggest that pressure be brought to bear on any athletes, sports leagues, universities and sporting events affiliated with Adidas to cut ties with the company or at least make a public statement condemning the move by the company to stand with the anti-semitic people.

The adidas stuff is awful, but Phil Knight is also spending huge amounts of money to repubs generally and in Oregon specifically to elect the repub governor (and the repub is now tied in the polls because of the ad blitzes he's bankrolled--in Oregon!) and New Balance's CEO also apparently is or was a huge MAGA lover. Under Armour's CEO is famously pro-MAGA, too, even though he's stopped being vocal about it.

Reminded me of Trump ... he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose any votes.

I saw that. Don’t most sponsorship contracts have some kind of morality clause, or something to the effect that we can terminate you if you make us look bad? This is about as bad as it gets, and it really can’t be tolerated.

I need an athletic show that holds up to actual athletics. They didn't work for me.

So corporations make a calculation. Sometimes it goes well for them. Sometimes not.

Remember when everyone was going to take down Spotify over Joe Rogan, then they all got bored after like a week? Netflix may never recover from Dave Chappelle's . . . oh wait, no, they gave him another deal.

"Neil Young is with us, you guys!"

Although this is pretty bad, so I think Adidas might be more liable to fold. But the fact it's not obvious they will is saying something.

It's like when they vomit a box of crayons every June for Pride. I know they don't care. Maybe run those ads in China and the Middle East. Maybe then I'd believe you.

Adidas is a German company. The original shoe company pre-dates the rise of Hitler but the owners were enthusiastic members of the Nazi party. The original company eventually became Adidas and Puma. Adidas used "forced" labor during WWII.
