I haven't watched CNN since I heard they are going conservative.
I tuned in tonight long enough to hear trumpian troupes. puke!
Language was used that I had no idea what the terms meant, yet I knew it came out the extremist language.

(94,609 posts)I don't watch cable news obsessively, when I watch them, it sounds like "news", not political bias.
But then, I don't START with the assumption that they HAVE shifted, so I don't watch their programming with that bias.

(10,434 posts)Then perhaps you should take a step back and consider the comments from those who do.
If CNN "is not changing", it is only because they were already a right-leaning channel for a good part of the day.
Examples: the "CNN Teabag Townhalls", and the "Teabag rebuttals by Batshit-Crazy Michele Bachmann" to Obama's SOTUs.
They were always "right leaning", just not as crackpot as Fox and more discreet. Which is actually more dangerous and harmful in my opinion.
Their current owner & CEO statements and directives speak for themselves. It's foolish to try to say otherwise.

This false conspiracy theory is way past its expiration date.
The current CEO of Warner/Discovery is a Democrat who gives to Democratic causes.
Does it ever get old?

And yes, it has gotten old. This is supposed to be a liberal Democratic site. Give that some thought. CNN's CEO and your actions speak loudly.

(10,434 posts)Another relevant saying is "a hit dog will holler". While I would never suggest actually hitting a dog, since all dogs are better than most people and most dogs are better than all people, I think that saying hits the nail right square on the head in this case.
Wouldn't you agree? Or would you rather keep baiting me and other liberal posters here on this liberal website?

Interestingly, that's the same response I get when I ask republicons to be specific about anything I've said that is not true. I wonder why that is. . .

CNN is not a liberal channel. Not at all.
Nor are they the neutral News channel we might actually want to have.

Liberalism depends on rationality. A conspiracy theory mentality is incompatible with reason or truth.

I take insult at being falsely accused. Unlike you and your ilk, I respond to it instead of attempting to get it hidden.
But then, I'm an adult.

That individual has a history (despite short membership) of this style of posting. A fact-free guaranteed defense of corporations, polluters, billionaires and conservatives.

(3,195 posts)Do you suppose it's possible they said that in response to you saying, "The only thing past its expiration date is a predictable poster who ALWAYS takes the side of corporations, billionaires, and republicons." Seems to me you started the mud-slinging there, friend. It's a bit rich to make ugly insinuations about someone's motives and character and then cry foul when they respond in kind. You get what you give.
Insofar as CNN's supposed sudden shift to the right, I'm afraid I'm simply not seeing it. I don't watch them, though, I read the news on CNN.com. I regularly see them call out Trumpism with phrases such as "the Big Lie" when referring to election denialism on the right, among other things. If they were suddenly carrying water for the right, why would they do that, especially so bluntly?
From what I'm seeing on DU, any news network/organization that isn't 100% complimentary towards Democrats and the left is instantly labeled a right-wing mouthpiece. My takeaway from that is that some people here don't want journalism, they want propaganda.

(10,055 posts)faint push back. They have definitely changed, I used to watch them a lot but quit before people started really complaining, it became unbearable. The leading shareholder of Disney Warner (Malone) is strong RW and he seems to be behind a lot of their leaning more towards the right. They say coming back to centre but that means back to both sidesisms and there is no two sides to fascists and those who are not.

Exactly who are you referring to as being "trumpian troupes"... Anderson Cooper, David Axelrod, Don Lemon, Fareed Zakaria, Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer, Erin Burnett?

(51,611 posts)Exactly the same here! I haven't watched it since they changed but this evening I decided to check it out and noticed the same thing that you did. I turned the channel after only a few minutes since I figured I gave them enough of a chance. It really pissed me off. And it was not a male talking head on the panel, it was a couple of women.

(13,783 posts)... the network in question. If they're "reporting," they're obligated to tell us what both sides are saying. I think they've done a good job of making facts primary. Virtually all reporting I've heard from anywhere for the last two years has included "the false claim" when telling us what right-wingers are saying. MSM is one of the few remaining reassuring institutions we have left.

This right-wing originated conspiracy theory isn't aging well.
I wonder if those who helped promote this false narrative plan to apologize for advancing this after being made aware this all started with the ultra-right Free Beacon?
