that presser photo was from an entirely different event, one from August 12th, NOT late October, as there was NO presser, it was simply Jayapal's office releasing a 4 month old, out of date letter, with no heads up or consultation, no revisions (as things has changed a tonne since June) from or to the other 29 signers, who were completely sandbagged
this (the fact that the WaPo pic was not an accurate pic of a related to the letter presser) has has been shown here on DU, example here:

(7,244 posts)It's October just before an election. Add "Surprise" in there and I think you have it.
If nothing else, it was greeted pretty generally by a resounding "HELL, NO", so that might put a crease in Vlad's undies for a day or so.

about the entire thing (the WaPo pic, and (more importantly) about why was a 4 month old letter that is now out of date released months later with no heads up to the signers, no consultations, no revisions, ect)

(7,244 posts)a four-month-old letter that was written at a different point in the course of the war. Until Ukraine got a supply of (too few so far) long-range weapons, the war was more or less at an agonizing stalemate, as many on DU and elsewhere bemoaned.
It may have been an inadvisable letter even then, but context counts.

(1,654 posts)The article was about Jayapal, so they used a picture of Jayapal. At the time they used the photo, they probably had no idea that whether there was a presser or not was going to be a big deal.
