did FAUX switch from pro-Jew to anti-Jew? Last I knew they were pro and I remember my ex-repub friend telling me how the Palestinians never had it so good and the Jews were A-OK. So what happened?

3. They are Pro-Israel, the right wing version, not Pro Jewish.

There has always been tension between right wingers and Jewish people. They support Israel in typical hardline right wing government as a bulwark against Islamic countries (except for Saudi Arabia, who they kinda like). They also know that Jewish people in the US have been a consistently liberal voting block AND they tend to think that Jewish people control "Hollywood" which again, has been traditionally liberal. So, the relationship is complicated. They like Israel for the anti-Islam position. They do not typically like Jews, especially in the US because they tend to support Democratic positions.

A right wing dude in my small town recently got arrested as he prepared to shoot up a Walmart. He had a Saudi flag in his room, so I guess the enemy of my enemy now runs that way

4. A few reasons...

Conservatives of the Reagan and Gingrich era were never pro-Jew. At best, they supported Israel and this Israeli Jews due to their role in fundamentalist Christian apocalyptic thought. As for America, they want it for Christians and Christians only. They will tolerate Jews as long as they speak for them, as caricatures out of Sunday school.

Fast forward, with the Tea Party and Trump, it's now their highest level of entertainment and mission to say what they think about people not like them, so speech once kept to ugly people's dinner tables is now discourse. And of course, Trumpism had it's birth on 4-chan in other Nazi circles.

8. I grew up and (by choice) live in a significantly Jewish neighborhood in Los Angeles.

I have very deep and long standing ties to the community here and have been named "honorary" by rabbis in 3 different streams of the faith.

When I was younger being Jewish and being a liberal Democrat was such a common overlap that it could almost be assumed. There were exceptions, but it was so rare that it seemed like anachronisms.

Jews in LA have formed a vital part of the liberal Democratic coalition for many decades.

But I hate to tell you, but many Jews and/or their children have been put off by their experiences with anti-Semitism on college campuses here that emanate from so-called "progressives" on the far-left, who operate from behind a veil of anti-Zionism, while they hold Israel to standards that are different than any other nation (except perhaps our own).

The hateful bigotry is costing us. No Jewish family has gotten past what is still fairly recent history. The Shoa isn't forgotten.

Our coalition isn't what it once was or what it ought to be. More and more Jews view the left as anti-Semitic. And it is hard to argue the point, no matter how hateful the Republican alternate might be.

We should stop tolerating such nonsense. Bigots should not have a place in our coalition. If we don't act we will continue to lose a vital part of our base.
