Democrats, on Defense in Blue States, Brace for a Red Wave in the House (NY Times)

https://web.archive.org/web/20221025154343/https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/25/us/politics/blue-states-midterm-landscape.html

In Oregon, Republicans are in contention to win half of the state’s soon-to-be six congressional seats — up from the one seat they now hold in the traditional Democratic stronghold.

In California, Republicans are competing to represent as many as five House seats that Mr. Biden carried in 2020 by the relatively comfortable margin of 10 percentage points or more.

In New York, Republicans are pursuing five more districts carried by Mr. Biden, including one held by Representative Sean Patrick Maloney, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, as they seek a prominent symbolic victory as much as a seat.

“The question the blue states will answer is how deeply Republicans go into the map or how narrow a majority they might end up with,” said Jesse Ferguson, a Democratic strategist who has worked on House races.

1. Its a possibility; what do we do about it in the last two weeks?

2. Its media bias! Nothing to worry about!

This article is basically the conventional wisdom right now, repackaged yet again. There will be a hundred similar stories between now and Election Day, saying pretty much the same thing.

I'd try to ignore it and work to win elections.

They had started leaning right a bit before, but I left them for good (With the exception of a few writers I follow there still) when they were rooting on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and when Judith Miller was allowed to wear the shortest skirt, and wave the biggest pom pom's as head cheerleader for a was Bush/Cheney started on LIES and where Pres. Biden was criticized for ending that damn fake ass war and saving us some monies (Unfortunately, we're still paying for those wars to this day)

That the election was stolen.

This is disinformation. It will be used against us.

The only real data it presents is spending, which is an indication of what some strategists think. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of polling data, for example.

Having said that, we've known from the beginning that midterm elections are bad for the party holding the presidency. That's been the case for a long, long time, with only a couple of exceptions. Will this time be an exception because of abortion? Maybe, maybe not.

Right now, most prognosticators see the GOP winning the House, with the Senate more of a tossup. I don't think they're all in on some conspiracy. Maybe they'll turn out to be wrong, but not because they have a strong rooting interest.

In any case, all we can do is to whatever we can to try and win as many of these as we can, and see where the votes are.

The opinion piece focused on his rolex watch and how he was out of touch with the common person. The editors allowed this. This was right after the Jan. 6th attack. I knew at that moment they were not on the side of Democracy. I cancelled my subscription immediately.
