General Discussion

I drove people to the polls. 5 of whom where were first time Democratic voters!
Today was (and will be) my biggest day of first time Dem voters this cycle and I wanted share with everyone here.
I registered 2 of these voters and I felt like a mom sending her chicks off to tackle the big, bad world on their own.
It was a very good day!

They all made me so proud to be an American again.
It was the best day ever in my career of GOTV work! I'm so thrilled it all ended up falling together like this today.

(1,782 posts)recognizing the real problem we have, which is obviously turnout.
Imagine the results if every Democrat did this and took at least one more person with them to vote.

(19,565 posts)Load up your vehicle and if you can drive folks to vote. Early voting works best for me since a lot of folks have weird days off and the spouse or other family members needed the vehicle that day.
Trust me, it feels so good to help people become engaged in our system.

(19,565 posts)The statistics I've seen on how many Democratic leaning folks just don't make it to the polls breaks my heart.
Please, if you can, help a Dem to the polls.

(32,658 posts)If you have the time, you'll probably run into other first-time voters who need a ride.
This continues for another 2 weeks, until November 8th.
Pay it forward!

(19,565 posts)I'm so pooped tonight. I got my booster today, too. Which might be the reason, but it was also such an emotional and beautiful day for me.
I adore when I get to work my local precinct. It restores my faith in our decency to see these good local people working to save our democracy.
I'm driving voters for three counties this year. I'm going to be exhausted by November 9th, but it's worth every moment to get people engaged in the system.
When I was asked to get back in the thick of it this year I considered Covid, but the windows are down and I'm masked. This is a calculated risk I'm more than willing to engage in for our democracy. People need rides and sometimes a stop for ice cream on the way home helps them remember me and they're more inclined to let me take them again. Apparently, I'm some folks favorite. I love them, too. ❤️
I'm happy to be back in the saddle doing what I know how to do.
