Fetterman struggled with his speech. He didnt sound good at times but came off as really sincere in his closing remarks.
Oz came off as really smarmy and unlikable and didnt directly answer any yes or no questions.

(42,770 posts)demeanor, it created a big gap with Oz's scripting, hyperactivity, one notch too high voice. Glad he didn't but would have told him to take it down a notch.
This was the first time I've seen them. I could see how OZ could win some support from this. Over- scripted but have to say pretty damn good bullshit. And people love doctors right?
Wonder if fetterman composes his own tweets? Read many and was impressed.

There is an ad right there.
OZ gave some good material for the ad.

And how many whims of local officials will remain the same, and which ones are expected to change?
Excuse me?
He certainly seems to want a crowd in there, all of them entitled to have an opinion that hed order to be considered.
And will a debate monitor or monitors be included in that crowd!
And will there be room for fact-checkers?

(2,771 posts)Do us all a favor, DSCC and/or Lt. Gov. Fetterman, make that a tv ad. Blare it from the rooftops.
I havent forgotten about what the illegitimate SC did to Roe. That action and Ozs statement make me feel the way Speaker Pelosi did about Trump. Id like to punch something. I bet Im not alone. Remind women. Use our anger.

(32,658 posts)I didn't hear any obvious mistakes, but Fetterman scored a point against Oz in the abortion question, also in the minimum wage question. If Fetterman lost any points (I'm not sure that he did) it's when he jumped in a couple of times and talked on top of Oz's rebuttal.
We all know that John isn't a "polished" speaker, but he can think fast on his feet. His answers were all good and truthful.
Oz has had a TV career, and yes he knows how to smile on camera. That isn't enough to convince people that he should be our next Senator.
It bothered me that the announcers were talking so FAST. It's almost like they were trying to get Fetterman to stumble on his answers or make a mistake. WTF?
Fetterman gets my vote. I've already mailed it in so this debate had no consequences for me.

(8,965 posts)He alluded to his stroke-related speech issues early-on, which was a good thing. Oz was clearly rehearsed and scripted, but his actual answers might come back to haunt him, particularly when he included local politicians as having an equal role in a woman's personal reproductive decisions.

(32,658 posts)The mods were all talking too fast anyway. It's like they were trying to get Fetterman to stumble or make a mistake. That's how it looked to me. So I'm glad he took that purposeful pause before answering.

Woman and doctor, having a very private deliberation on her future.
With a camera in the consulting room and a room full of old men somewhere else ready to vote on a yes or no basis as to what the doctor's and woman's decision should be?
Oz foot in Oz mouth!
