Just another law abiding "good guy" with a gun who thinks he needs to bring it every where

What sort of moron brings a gun into attraction filled with kids? I had three of my grandnephews at one of these a few weeks ago they are packed with kids.

Thankfully this idiot only hurt himself.

https://www.startribune.com/man-accidentally-shoots-self-in-leg-while-at-corn-maze-in-brooklyn-park/600218588/

A Circle Pines man accidentally shot himself in the leg while carrying a gun on his hip at a seasonal family attraction in Brooklyn Park, officials said.

Jerome Keenan, 38, called 911 to report what happened before he was taken to a hospital for treatment of his wound, Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Elliot Faust said. The gunfire did not strike anyone else.

The incident occurred about 11:40 a.m. Saturday at the Twin Cities Maze, 109th Avenue and Hwy. 169, police said. The gun was on Keenan's hip when it went off while he was at a corn pit where people play, Faust said.

"The victim was bending over at the waist and was removing corn from his boot when the firearm he was carrying discharged into his upper leg," the inspector said.

Faust said that not all handguns have safety mechanisms, and did not know whether Keenan's gun had one. He said police are trying to determine how the gun went off.

In an interview Monday with the Star Tribune, Keenan said he was just outside the pit when the gun went off. He said the safety on the weapon was engaged but didn't explain how the gun discharged.

Faust said Keenan has a government-issued permit to carry a firearm in public and that the firing of his handgun "does not affect his permit to carry."

More stupidity on display at the link. Including the owner of the attraction saying he doesn't post signs banning guns because
"I cannot stop anybody [who has a permit to carry a firearm] from coming in." And the police inspector waking up and deciding he would send it to the County Attorney to review for possible charges.

Outside of revolvers or very old guns, I can't think of any without a safety of some type. DetroitLegalBeagle Oct 2022 #3

In fact, I heard a series of loud bangs last night from my gun safe.

At first I was worried, but then I remembered that it was most likely my guns just "going off" again.

… that this freakin moron was walking around kids in a play area with a charged weapon. He should go to jail for rank stupidity.

then you have to rack the gun to load a round into the chamber and cock the hammer before you can shoot. If it was a double action revolver, it takes a fare amount of pressure to rotate the cylinder and cock the hammer, and the holster would cover and protect the trigger.

It sounds like this idiot was carrying a gun that was cocked with a round in the chamber and probably wasn’t in a holster, and decided to play around children in a corn maze. Too bad it didn’t shoot his balls off.

(BTW, I’m no gun nut. I’m just pointing out what is common knowledge.)

9 of the top 10 selling semi-auto pistols of 2021 did not have hammers to cock.

Also a double action seni auto can be fired without cocking, much like its revolver cousin.

would have to be racked first, and a double action semi would normally be in a holster that would guard the trigger. And I assume that these top selling guns would have a safety. Unless it’s some kind of ghost gun. Like I say, too bad it didn’t blow his balls off.
