Watching Sunak's first Question Time

Took him less than five minutes to attack immigrants - sad given that his own parents are immigrants. The ‘Labour soft on crime and immigrants’ sounded like the Slobfather and ReTHUG goons.
Even BBC cut the feed.😀

If enough Tory MPs don't like/want the new party leader, they could side with the opposition and trigger a no confidence vote.

Normally I'd figure that's unlikely, but with the general chaos of the government, who knows.

Sunak probably has a little time to see if he can wrangle the current Tory disaster.

But yeah, Parliaments can only go for five years without an election, so they have til January 2025. I'd be shocked if it went that long, all things given.

When the people hit the streets by Spring they will have no choice but to call early elections.
You are correct re 2024 being the year parliamentary elections are due, but the date is not fixed like the US.

Perhaps, if you included his first name, Rishi, I would have picked it up faster.

I'm having a dumb day.

Won’t fix what’s wrong with the UKs economy. At best, it’s a very Trumpian distraction.

In the politics of today, it works.

Shame on those who have lowered the discourse so low.

Last I heard polls showed Labour up by 30+ points in the wake of all the Tory chaos and dysfunction. That may tighten but at least they haven't collapsed into a state of blind/obedient/stupid tribalism like "some" parties in "some" places. Now they just need a general election to restore "representative" government and maybe some changes to their electoral system.
