Report: Russia is recruiting US trained Afghan commandos to fight in Ukraine Per Guardian Live feed

Russia is purportedly recruiting members of Afghanistan’s national army commando corps to fight in Ukraine, Foreign Policy is reporting.

These are the commandos that were trained by US navy seals and British armed forces. About 20,000 to 30,000 of the volunteer commandos were left behind when the US left Afghanistan in Taliban control in August 2021.

According to FP, only a few hundred senior officers were evacuated before the republic collapsed. While thousands escaped to neighbouring countries as the Taliban hunted and executed collaborators with the collapsed government, many more remain in Afghanistan, in hiding.

The US spent $90bn building the Afghan national defence and security forces.

1. Why would they go and fight for russia? They ran away rsther than fight for their own country

The ppl of Afghanistan are VERY tribal. It’s barely a country..more like a loosely fit if at all group of tribes with different cultures and ideas. They work and fight only for their tribe

Secondly, the orcs can’t arm, feed or supply their current troops..but go ahead throw some more troops at it.

2. The russians hate afghans, and the feeling is mutual.....

I'm sure they would love to get any warm bodies they can find, but any afghans need to realize they will be treated like dirt and sent to quickly die.

Look at how the russians are treating ethnic muslims already. And those are from loyal russian republics.

Still, a lot of afghans ended up in Iran trying to find a safe place until they get to another country. Iran doesn't let them work as anything more than day labor however. So many might be tempted by russian lies.

Possibly the same for pakistan. It's not likely they will pop their heads up from within afghanistan and try to get to russia, but desperate people might try.

But I doubt they will get many from anywhere.

Bunch of "Bags of Ass" Just like the Iraqi's we trained. Very few countries can truly produce large scale hard core disciplined troops.
That is why we are asked to train others all around the world. Do you know who asked for our help after 2014. The Ukraine, we have been training their Troops for them since their failure in the previous Russian invasion. Big difference in their performance now.

5. I think the story is a "nothing burger"

Sure they have very good training, but where are their loyalties? Also, what makes them effective is not only their training but their logistics and command. What makes US special forces so effective is that they have the latest state of the art weaponry, communications, and logistical support.

Unless you watch too much Rambo, you have to understand that if Russia equips and manages those commandos like they have their own troops, they will strand and leave a bunch of well trained Afghan commandos DEAD in Ukraine. What happened to all of those killers from Egypt and Chechnya? Have they won the war for Putin?
