Because if I owned a brick and mortar and had one break in, I sure as shit would take measures to prevent one in the future. My bullshit detector is also pegging because how many times do we hear that the 'thieves' bypassed the cheap stuff lying around and knew exactly where the high value items were and took them on multiple occasions.
And how many times do we skim over articles related to insurance fraud?
My opinion, but I bet there are a lot of insurance companies that are taking a more jaundiced view of these claims.
Yes, this is related to the 'crime' trope that the motherfuckers are trying to hang on the midterms.

(94,624 posts)First, too much video showing the thefts. Second, too many stores (especially drugstores) locking up more and more products.
As for what are they seeking out the expensive stuff, its because these are organized gangs grabbing thinks for high value resale, and because they know that their likelihood of being caught and locked up are low.

(94,624 posts)As for "an inside job", all you have to do is walk into the store to scope it out.
NB: from a political standpoint, arguing "crime isn't actually happening" is a great way to maker voters think you're not serious.

Some highlights:
* Misclassification alone costs the state of California $7 billion in lost revenue.
* $9.27 billion was stolen from workers who earned less than $13 an hour in 2019 alone.
* Authors estimate that workers throughout the country lose $15 billion annually from minimum wage violations alone.

It seems to me that people who see nothing wrong with stalking, harassing, and tormenting innocent patients outside (and sometimes inside as well) reproductive health care facilities would be quite publicly forthcoming with information about suspects, and that there would be arrests etc. The radio silence tells me that THEY DID IT THEMSELVES.
