On that Kos OP (recently cited here) from the ER nurse

As I said at the Daily Kos, if I could recommend the OP x 1000 I would.

When my youngest son was nineteen, he suffered a traumatic brain injury followed by a stroke from a nicked carotid artery. It was not pretty to watch, not in the early intensive care days nor the months of subsequent therapies and rehab. As a mother, I was anguished by the struggle, the frustration, the months of pain--physical and emotional--my son endured. It was an event that affected our entire family.

John Fetterman's performance last night was ragged, even painful to watch. However, the fact that he was on that stage, pushed himself to do the debate is nothing short of remarkable. My son was also a fighter, bull-headed if you will. He, too, pushed himself and returned to University in 8 months after his accident. I held my breath the entire time but he was determined to get back up. Like John Fetterman, he got back up, chugged along despite mockery from some, doubt from a number of administrators and ended up on the Dean's List at the end of the semester.

Though John Fetterman's words were halting and uneven, they were true to the man, a man who has pushed against adversity, stood on his own two feet and vowed to work for those less fortunate than himself be it in healthcare access, minimum wage, a woman's right to choose, criminal justice, compassion in immigration matters, etc. His personal medical battle will only increase his ability to fight the good fight with the empathy he had and the insight people acquire after a life-and-death struggle.

John Fetterman has entered warrior territory now.

In contrast, Dr. Oz with his slick, arrogant performance came across with the biggest gaffe of the evening: a woman's healthcare and abortion should be between a woman, her doctor and LOCAL POLITICAL LEADER. All within the context that government should NEVER be involved in these matters. Just leave it to the States and those political leaders.

I listened to a disgusting CNN segment this morning, a panel of 'very serious people'. One of the panelists suggested there should have been a "Mercy Rule," that John Fetterman should have been put down after four minutes.

Can't tell you how that comment enraged me, set my hair on fire.

And then? My husband and I voted a straight Democratic ticket in Pennsylvania. After that, we got a Pfizer booster and flu shot.

I want to be perfectly healthy when John Fetterman raises his hand and is sworn in as our next Senator from Pennsylvania.

As for my son? He graduated, is happily married and gifted us with a beautiful granddaughter.

I predict last night will backfire on the Oz campaign. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.

The comments from 'the very serious people' lit a fire of absolute outrage. My Irish temper went into overdrive. Anyone who has personally experienced or witnessed someone you care about struggle with catastrophic disease/injury should be offended by these callous, ignorant remarks.

We all need to be warriors.

John Fetterman stands with us. Now, we're called to stand with him.

understanding of what they were seeing and how impressive his recovery has been. A large piece of that recovery is the determination of Fetterman himself.

Oz was the biggest a'hole and came across to anyone who could be honest as nasty, lacking in even the slightest compassion expected of a medical profession. I do hope it backfires. The kind of humans I care to interact with would surely see through him.

He is a public servant.
He is not a public leach.

I think he will crush Oz by 10+ points!

Oz is not a serious person nor should he be treated as such. In fact he should be packing his bags and going home to Turkey if I had any input to the question.

more than a Clydesdale horse, and straight up quack shit about C-19. Give me a real human

Which means they know how effective she is on the campaign trail and how voters really love her, her caring spirit and sense of humor.

And, of course, Gisele F. is right about campaign politics: nasty and icky.

She has gotten up @ 4 AM to help out at food banks* for people who were hurting because
they were just afterthoughts in the shifting of jobs and the world's economy. Those steel
towns and coal patches really hurt after "things" changed.

* Which in some cases she helped to start too.

BTW she scares the shit out of the PTB.

God Bless Gisele! And her husband!

I just hope God blesses enough of the electorate to vote for him to get him into office. NO ONE could be more mindful or compassionate about the poor, the sick, and the need for reliable and accessible medical care!

I hold his dual character against him: one polished, pseudo-moderate persona for the camera, the other for the snake-oil salesman who is more than willing to bend the knee to the MAGA-cult.

Makes my skin crawl!

Roosevelt came to mind as I watched John Fetterman last night. Roosevelt was beloved by the vast majority of Americans, yet few were aware of his disability.

John Fetterman let it all hang out last night, fully exposed his current vulnerabilities to the public and left the judgment of his fitness up to the electorate. His comment that the definition of transparency regarding his medical situation was showing up was, as far as I'm concerned, one of the bravest things I've heard a politician say out loud.

It's up to the voters now. In my mind, the $2 million donation haul after last night's debate gives us a sense of how this went down. Anyone who has suffered a disastrous blow can identify with the grit of the man. And anyone who has experienced a devastating disease/injury or had a front row seat witnessing a loved one struggle to get back up, realizes how hard the process truly is, how much determination and heart it takes. My vote today went to the Lion-Hearted!

The man deserves a dozen

My son was lucky. He had to relearn quite a bit--how to swallow, how to hold his head up, sit up, walk etc. But considering the extent of his injuries, his recovery was quite remarkable, as is the human brain which after the fugue state will attempt to heal itself, creating new neural pathways and networks to bypass what has been damaged.

It was a harrowing experience, educational, too. That's why I know John Fetterman will continue to progress and be fine. As with my son, early intervention and therapy is critical after brain trauma. Fetterman received high-level medical treatment and rehab, as did my son.

Makes a difference!

Thanks for the kind thoughts.
