I see my local Walmart has whole turkeys for $.98 lb. I had heard some warnings that they may

be in short supply and really expensive because of bird flu. That's good news. I'm single and always do a whole one for myself and am just finishing the last of the soup. I want two this year. I'll eat it more often and do another whole turkey dinner at the end of May.

we always buy an extra one. My wife thaws it then cuts it into quarters then we re-freeze it, now we have four nice dinners for two during the year.

We also buy extra corned beef when it's cheap around St. Patrick's day.

I'd buy about ten and donate them to my local soup kitchen.

piess very cheap, as were cranberries. A friend and I took 5 of each to S-CAP (Southern CO AIDs Project). Seemed a small thing to do for those who might be forgotten.

Inexpensive source of protein. Budget permitting - buying 2 may be wise.

I’m like you you - live alone but still buy the extra turkey to cut into meaty parts for the freezer and use the bony stuff to make a big pot of turkey soup which I can for use in the future. So nice to have both available. Just used one of last year’s jar of turkey and broth to make a wild rice, mushroom and turkey dish. So yummy - good thing because I will be eating it for several days.

We hunt deer, bear, and have vegetable gardens, and make beer, wine, and moonshine. We have great pig pickins.
