Dan Rather @DanRatherWith this Twitter thing maybe changing considerably.
a question I am asking:
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go, there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know
Should I stay or should I go?

(7,919 posts)It can only get worse once the Ultimate Twit takes charge of the day to day functions. In his grand scenario only things he can think of actually happen. Reality would argue that in this case Murphy's law has much to account for.
Once Momentum and Gravity begin to have effect things will go down hill rapidly.

(2,198 posts)What are we going to do now?
Taking off his turban, they said, is this man a Jew?
'Cause working for the clampdown
They put up a poster saying we earn more than you
When we're working for the clampdown
We will teach our twisted speech
To the young believers
We will train our blue-eyed men
To be young believers
The judge said five to ten but I say double that again
I'm not working for the clampdown
No man born with a living soul
Can be working for the clampdown
Kick over the wall 'cause government's to fall
How can you refuse it?
Let fury have the hour, anger can be power
Do you know that you can use it?
The voices in your head are calling
Stop wasting your time, there's nothing coming
Only a fool would think someone could save you
The men at the factory are old and cunning
You don't owe nothing, so boy, get running
It's the best years of your life they want to steal
But you grow up and you calm down
And you're working for the clampdown
You start wearing the blue and brown
And you're working for the clampdown
So you got someone to boss around
It makes you feel big now
You drift until you brutalize
Doesn't make you first kill now
In these days of evil presidentes
Working for the clampdown
But lately one or two has fully paid their due
For working for the clampdown
Hah, get along, get along
Working for the clampdown
Hah, get along, get along
Working for the clampdown
Yeah, I'm working hard in Harrisburg
Working hard in Petersburg
Working for the clampdown
Working for the clampdown
Hah, get along, get along
Begging to be melted down
Get along, get along
Work
Work
Work
And I give away no secrets
Work
Work
More work
More work
Work
Work
Work
Work

(23,741 posts)But follow many folks on the platform.
If he allows RW wingnuts to post lies, verbal assaults and other major negatives attacks and insults, then I'm gone.

(82,849 posts)But the signs should be obvious before too long as to what Musk allows to be posted and what he takes down. If it remains the platform of choice for the big shots, it can probably put up with a lot of nonsense. But if it goes all cesspool, the folks who make it profitable (that would be you and everyone else who isn't a big shot) will leave in droves.
I understand your conflicted feelings. I believe, though, that Musk and the other Twitter users will resolve that conflict in due time.

(591 posts)No real benefit to having an account. I'm flooded by tweets as it is. Why buy the cow when I can get the milk for free?

(591 posts)I tried it for a few days when it came out. Didn't like the short message format (I'm verbose when I have something to say) so I quit and never saw a reason to go back

The recent purchase of Twitter by Musk might give an aspirin a headache and make our fingernails sweat. But make no mistake! Dan Rather's Twitter account is still humming along like Ray Charles!
(Just some of Rather's old election night quotes.)
