We are in a new & dangerous political climate.

Here's when I knew:

I live in a rural area of a deep red state. Shortly after our move here, I was stunned at the sight of a Confederate flag on Main Street. I emailed the mayor an objection and received no response. Shortly after, our neighbor across the street from us, put up a BIG confederate flag secured to their their front porch facing my house. It was the home of the police chief's son. I don't think that was a coincidence. Message received.

is damn near complete. Took the orange menace less than 6 years. Now we know the seething anger that stayed just under the surface for eons. Scary times.

we know they are a minority. We outnumber them greatly. That's why they are openly trying to steal elections. It's their only path to power.

They are 1/3.
We are 1/3.
The other 1/3 overwhelmingly indulges or buys into their bullshit.
They know that and that is why they have been successful in stealing elections less overtly our whole life, and with each time getting away with it being more emboldened.
Not posting this to beat you up. We are just pushing mud. Most people don't think like us, unfortunately.

It isn't our fault, though the democratic party has berm too casual about it.

But the majority of this country at the very least enables or indulges their bullshit.

I have had heartburn over it since the 80s. It's been like a slow motion train wreck.

I followed DU regularly with Obama's 1st run for the presidency. Became less politically active for a while and have recently returned to try and connect with like-minded people again.

at that ballgame. It rests 99% on the GOP with all their political ads with guns
shooting "an opponent" and outright comments from gop guys for civil war and 2A "solutions."

When we moved here (NC), everyone was a Democrat, then Obama became the candidate and they all switched parties!!!!

Sheriff flys a confederate flag here. The next county over, the Sheriff's Department has a confederate flag flying out front.

But the good news is after 22 years, we are moving back to NJ
