that I have seen by more than one poster on our chances in the mid-terms.. I am actually feeling quite positive for many of our candidates
Example: the republicans have done so much damage to themselves by refusing to back away from the Trump and his crazy ilk, most Iowans view Trump unfavorably.. and that is most independents also

If our people get out to vote, and the sad sacks of the world stop trying to demoralize them, I have a feeling pollsters are going to be pulling their hair out by its ever whitening roots.
Of course the media is going to go negative because usually the out of power party makes all the gains in the first mid terms of a new Presidents cycle. But this time, look what a group of losers the out of power party has embraced.

(68,689 posts)actually been saying 6 points ahead in PA (Fetterman) was a toss-up but Vance leading Ryan by one point means he is 'winning'. I am sick of this shit. Kornacki shows us all the ways we could measure the 'red' wave on election day and what to watch...there isn't going to be a red wave.

By refusing to back away from Trump and criticize him, republicans have hurt themselves beyond anything that
they could imagine. On November 8th there will be a wipe-out of the pukes that we have not seen in years.
...Not taking on Trump, and calling him out for who & what he is, is stupid beyond "STUPID." Also not defending
women's right to abortion, will motivate women to vote against the republicans in a way that will be devastating this
election cycle. About future elections beyond this one, one cannot say. But, this time they have shot themselves in
the head ......TWICE, NOT ONCE.
...The backlash will be similar to 88 Dukakis riding around in a tank. And, it is too late for the leaders in the
Puke Party to do anything about either problem. Who is going to criticize Trump at this point? Who has stood by
women's right to abortion through all of this? Democrats THAT IS WHO.
....Pukes will lose like they have never lost before. In eleven days we will see this blood bath. And, I for one, will
enjoy it completely. (and in my opinion, it is too late for them to do anything about it)
As I remember, that was Dukakis riding in the tank, not McGovern. But the sentiment is the same.

(16,529 posts)It was Dukakis, and it was 1988, not 1972.
It would have made zero sense for McGovern to have his picture taken riding in a tank. He ran for president as an anti(Vietnam)war candidate.

(38,448 posts)Also, I got Dukakis election date wrong. It was 88, not 72. That change has also been made.
........Oh well I tried.

(32,767 posts)... and that's why we need to stop listening to them and stop taking cues from them.
They are wrong, but it's their business to get us churned up and anxious. Why? So we'll watch more TV and listen to them blathering 24/7. No thanks, I don't want to hear that message, and I refuse to repeat it here on DU.
We need to stay positive and keep on doing what we're doing. We need to keep electing Democrats everywhere.

(4,764 posts)surpassing 2018 we will gain in the Senate and most likely hold the House. It is that simple.
Stuart G
(38,448 posts)Failure to do so, will get lots of people to vote. Also, the abortion issue is very high on the list too.
And we know which side is in favor of "Women's right to have abortions" don't we?

(15,272 posts)I think many people here on DU WAY overestimate how much bad polls and other people expressing worries and doubts effects anyone, ESPECIALLY other people on DU.
If you bother to spend time on DU, youre almost certainly going to get out and vote no matter what.
And if scary polls and predictions of doom and gloom were so toxic to potential electoral victory, why the hell would fund raising emails use those things so much?
Be confident. Be worried. Whatever you like. But please, stop with all of the unproven assertions about what either discourages voters, or the converse, what makes people so overconfident they dont bother to vote.

(3,549 posts)For one thing there will be another democratic governor in Pennsylvania. Rump has said he is going to contest the results of the election because he knows already that the candidates he backed are going to lose.
I truly believe that the women and young people in this country are going to be the major players in this election.

Be nice if it slowed to a stop in the middle, but that never happens. I'm old and getting closer to the last swing anyway.

(17,988 posts)Debate. Her opponent said Patty wanted abortion right up until birth. I knew she was a liar right then. She had to use notes written for her to attack Patty over and over, she was so angry, accipused Patty of attacking her when she was the one attacking.
I am mostly optimistic. I am concerned about the violence and lies.

(46,082 posts)We'll gain seats in both houses. That was at least a week ago, so I don't know if his opinion has changed. But I truly trust Howard Dean's opinions. Michael Moore, on the other hand, sees what he wants to see.
I don't understand the worries over the Senate. If we lose NV, we're likely to take one of the open seats to make it up. We wouldn't get the extra two votes to finish the filibuster, which is a bummer.

(8,929 posts)I know that its going to come down to more of our voters getting out than theirs; and, I do believe we should pick up some women voters and young voters too who should be more motivated to vote for democrats unless they are just plain stupid. (10,839 posts)You and I are on the same wavelength. I think we'll be surprised by the election results. In a good way. At the top of the year, the Dems were considered roadkill for the upcoming election. Now? It's race to the finish. Contests are close, razor-thin in many cases. Now it's a GOTV operation. We get our people out, we can win this thing.
Btw, I listened to President Obama this afternoon, the rally in Michigan. The man did what he's so good at: he set the crowd on fire.
Fired up and ready to go!
Off topic but I received my verification this morning that my ballot had been received and added to the 750,000+ early ballots in Pennsylvania. Feels good.
Fired up!

I sincerely and genuinely hope you are right. Because if Republicans gain power again, it is OVER and no amount of cheerleading once that happens will make me feel differently.
Again - to clarify: I hope Dems kick serious ass and take control of both houses. I will be dancing in the streets if that happens!!!
